This place had really weird vibes. The only indicator that you are at the right place is a piece of paper taped to the door of another restaurant. My chicken did not look like it was cooked all the way, TBD if I will be getting sick. The rice and sauce were good, but if you are going to get Chinese you're better off going somewhere else.

Awesome place to be at. The waiter was bilingual (trilingual if you count dialects). The food was very authentic that I could not stop eating. I got got thirds of the Szechuan chicken although it was spicy to a person with no spice tolerance. The atmosphere gave a very homey vibe as there was a lot of cushioned chairs. I would recommend this place to try out Chinese food and to be with friends!

I went looking for this place after seeing the reviews on Yelp. I found a place whose address matched. A large sign reading St. George Tavern was outside hanging over the entrance, and there was a piece of paper taped to the door reading Jiangnan Chinese restaurant. I went inside and was immediately struck by the interior. It looked like it was still a tavern, all wood, and a really cool looking long bar in the back. I imagined that this is what it looked like when it first started as a tavern. I didn't see any other people so I started to walk to the bar area. A voice behind me said "you can't be in here." I turned and a woman in a security guard uniform approached. She had been sitting there in the dark and I had had no idea anyone was there. I asked if I were in the right place for the restaurant as it didn't seem like I was. She told me it wasn't a restaurant. So then I asked if she might know where the Chinese restaurant was because I had the right address. She said she didn't know. Then a group of people come down the stairs that were off to my left and go to the bar. She didn't stop them. That's when I asked her why there was a piece of paper on the door outside saying this was the restaurant. Then she looked down to the bar area and changed up the story - the restaurant wasn't open yet. At this point I thought I'd entered the twighlight zone and just left. What a weird experience. I have no idea how the food is. Won't be back.

Jiangnan Chinese cuisine is famous in Flushing NewYork area. One of the best rated restaurant to go to. Food is tasty and the place is clean. This place is always busy. The steam fish and the Peking duck taste good.

Service was above par and likewise the food. I ordered the Stir fry lamb. This dish is delicious but packs some heat.

The place was not very well kept, there were insects flying around, mosquitoes, flies, etc. There was just one waiter and a bartender who were attending to the guests. The service was fairly quick though.

The drinks were quite strong, one cocktail hit like me like has 2..

Food was very okayish..
Pan fried pork dumpling was the only thing which tasted normal, served with a bare min presentation.
Hot and sour soup was more sour than hot, maybe excess vinegar.
And the Hunan style chicken had more cut spice than chicken and was dry.. my tongue started to feel fuzzy with the kind of spice they used in it..

Overall, I would recommend this place more for cocktails than the Chinese food

Salt and pepper shrimp was terrible. You had to dismantle the whole shrimp with your hands for over priced charges… soup dumplings were ehhh. And over priced. The menu in photos has definitely changed since they merged with the bar downstairs. There was also some CRAZY yelling downstairs in the kitchen for a good 5-10 min. Will probably never come back here tbh. Come here if you’re lonely and want to sit in your sorrow. Music is very come down…?
