Outstanding trail in a place that has some of the best hiking you'll find. My family and I actually hiked this trail the 'opposite' way that most guides recommend. It was near low tide, so to take advantage of the cove, we took the woods path direction. So glad we did because low tide gives you more room to roam. Then ascent was amazing and the views of Somes Sound are rewarding. The trail is also slightly less busy than others. Highly recommend this one!

Fantastic little hike, very kid friendly. Go counter clockwise and take the fire road back after taking in the views and visiting the cove.

We followed a firelane out to the cove. This was an easy grade with plenty of width, family friendly. The beach was lovely with pebbles and Loons in the water.
We attempted to hike further north around the cove, but the granite block jumble was too difficult. We did the Flying Mountain trail back to the parking lot. It was very well marked with blue blazes, difficult in very short sections, but very well laid out with granite steps or natural granite features.

Short hike to a pretty beach. I think there are views at the top ... But it was really foggy on my hike. There's a shorter, flatter and easier way to the beach on the fire road at the end of the parking lot.

Perfect trail to have it all: the view, the reward at the beach, and an easy and quick return.
It’s a loop that you should be started climbing the trail stairs, until you reach the mountain top for a look at the harbor, then descent toward the beach to rest and return by the gravel path toward the parking area.
It takes about 1h30 going slowly. The return is about 20 mins on the gravel path.

It’s a decent 60 mins hike. We started at the wrong side but if you started from the correct side, it would be a step hike up and slow hike down. Overall about an hour depending on your speed. It may take longer if you walk slow. Also you can only do the small loop since the long loop is closed for peregrine falcon conservation as of June 2023. So unsure about how long the long loop will take but the short loop is a good hike! Beautiful mountain tops and less traffic! You can probably have the mountain too for yourself for a good period of time! We were here for a while and no one showed up

A short, moderate hike with a solid view of Somes Sound at the top and access to a small rocky beach at the far end of the loop. If you want a quick hike with good views and easily navigable terrain, I'd recommend this trail.
