What a beautiful hike! We took the trail to the Sam Knob Summit, which was rated more difficult than the Sam Knob trail and I didn't think it was hard in any way. Yes there is some steps here and there but nothing too strenuous! You'll definitely need bug spray for this hike as you will be in the weeds lol. Also, wear good hiking!

The bear signs had me ready to sit in the car... I sharpened a 14-inch stick, and I felt safe. Plus, you see other people on the trail, which made me more comfortable. We hiked 9.4 miles in a loop. Beautiful sites, didn't see any bears. 👍🏾
If I did see one, It wouldn't have seen me 🏃🏾‍♀️‍➡️
My knees hurt, and my feet were soaked because it rained most of the time. But I felt like I was in man vs. Wild with the brush and mountainous terrain. The sharpened stick I grew attached to was named Wilson. He served me well. I only got scared that we were lost about 6 times. Luckily, we had our tour guide, Sam Sulek, to get us back on the right path. Over all 10/10 experience.

.....Also, use the bathroom before you get there. I can't describe the smell of the bathroom there.. I don't want to talk about it.. #traumatizing 🤢😷😭

Easy trail up to sam knob, it has a really nice view of the hills and is not hard to get to. Trail is pretty well maintained . This would be a good fall hike

Really enjoyable trail. Has great views especially at the end, but a nice path through a field and woods first too. We liked the variety. Moderate to easy hike. There are some elevation climb sections and stairs, but nothing too crazy. Our dog loved this trail and covered it easily too (Boxer).

Awesome hike that takes you through varying ecosystems. The incline can be challenging if you’re not accustomed to them.

The summit itself has enough room to enjoy the view even if there are fellow hikers atop. The hike back down is gorgeous, as you walk through fields that lead you to think you’re no longer in NC anymore.

We did a loop with the belief that there was a swimming hole nearby. If you fall victim to this belief, like we did, there is no swimming hole. There are a few creeks in which you can wade in the water but no huge swimming hole.

Great short hike to stunning views. Parking can be a but of a challenge on weekends and peak leaf watcher times but I've been here on weekdays with no issues. Great place to watch a sunset as long as you have a good light for the hike back down after dark.

Didn’t get any mountain views today, but the forests were already beginning to get lush and green. A few creek crossings and numerous camp spots along the trail. Parking fills quick, and bathrooms at trailhead. Lovely trail!
