A wonderful glade habitat of pitch pine and chestnut oaks. The trees up on the ridge are shorter stature due to the thin soils and the exposed granitic bedrock.
In between the ridges are valleys of mountain laurel and clethra briar thickets. There also a few dense blueberry swamps.

The trails are wide and well marked, but there is no map, and I have gotten lost a few times. If you know how to read a map, it's easy to go off trail and find your way back.

An interesting thing about the trails is that they primarily run north to south, with at least 6 different trails parallel to each other with a couple connectors. Some of these trails are switch backs, while scenic they aren't very efficient on getting back to the parking lot and they can turn you around.

Hunting area.
Trails are not marked. I am a fairly experienced hiker and i got lost. What should have been a 2 mile hike turned into over 4 miles before I exited the woids and followed the roads back to my car.
