RATS, RATS, RATS!!!! BOTH HUMAN AND RODENTS!!! there is an infestation of rats and Katerina Palomo, the ""manager", doesn't give tenants their security deposit back.
We rented there for a year and we made the mistake of not taking pictures of the apartment as soon as moving in. It was NOT painted. Before moving out, we cleaned and disinfected thoroughly the whole apartment. Of course we asked to be present for the move out inspection. She sends the maintenance person to do the inspection. She is not there to tell you if the apartment is in good condition or if there are any damages that need to be repaired. The maintenance person told us it was spotless and damage free. During that year that we rented there, we even fixed a couple of things that were falling apart. We returned all the keys and parking stickers. Less than a month we were waiting to get the security deposit in the mail. Instead we "owe" them money and got charged a paint fee of $119 and accelerated rent of $50.50. BTW, we always paid the rent and services before their due date. I emailed Katerina asking her for an explanation of those charges. She said was getting back to me the following day. I never heard from this woman ever again. I emailed two more times and got nothing. Not surprising, in other reviews former tenants had the same problem of not getting their deposits back. BE AWARE!!! If you are rich and can afford a lawyer and the same happens, go ahead and sue them.
- Lack of COMMUNICATION and UNPROFESSIONAL!
- Trash chute are closed. People have to dispose their trash downstairs in the dumpster. Good luck taking the trash at night and not get eaten by a huge RAT.
- Not too long ago, could hear the rats running in between walls and ceiling.
- People not picking up their dog's poop. It is EVERYWHERE.
- Downstairs hallway smells awful, like something died.
- Elevators keep breaking down.
- They are so desperate of getting people to rent there that they let anyone in, therefore people are careless, dirty and a lot of weed smokers.
- Hot water problems.
- Lobby entrance door, doesn't lock, it is open 24 hours.
- Don't bother calling the office, they never answer their phone.
The only people who work hard are the two maintenance persons and the cleaning lady.

I had the chance to stay in one of the apartments for almost three years and I love it the most. Wonderful neighborhood. Lovely staffs. Kate and Ruth were and are very professional and excellent team. Give it a try and thank me later. I personal recommended a friend during my stay and she’s currently leaving in one of the units and she love it so far. One day she said thanks for bringing to this neighborhood where everything is just at your reached. Lots of groceries stores and restaurant at a walking distance.

I really hate leaving bad reviews, but I just feel like this NEEDS to be said. It's mid April and we still have no AC! 85degrees outside so it is blazing in the rooms. The higher you live, the hotter it gets. 92degrees in my apartment with all windows open and all fans on. They say to turn on fans when it actually just circulating heat! I can only imagine what renters with children are going through... Rats!!!! I hear them everyday. And everyday there is a man downstairs obviously doing nothing because you can still hear the rats. Machines in the gym have been broken almost 2years now. Not able to use the sauna. Elevators go out at least once a week. DO BETTER!!!

I’ve been living at Whitestone for 2 years and have surely enjoyed my experience.
Highlights: The rent is affordable and the location is superb, located about 15 minutes or less from DC. Having open parking with many spaces available + having a large, 24/7 gym on top of that (with various pieces of equipment may I add) is a GEM while living in the city.
Side note: the balcony view is really incredible, easily the best part about my apartment. If you want that skyline view I recommend floors 6 & up! I’ve captured the best sunrise photos throughout my stay and it truly never get old. (My balcony faces the back, towards the dog park for anyone curious!)
I am a bit surprised to see the many reviews regarding pests or rats because I have not once encountered this situation in my apartment during my residency here. If I had seen any of these negative reviews prior to me leasing at Whitestone, it probably would’ve steered my leasing making decision to apply elsewhere so if you’re on the fence of applying due to the prior reviews, just know that not everyone experiences that.
People generally also feel more inclined to write reviews when its negative, rather than when its positive so hopefully my review can help someone who’s considering applying at Whitestone!

Ive been a residence since
2022 and I find that the staff is very professional and friendly. Every time I had an issue in the apartment or needed something fixed they were quick to respond. It’s true we do have a rodent problem currently But I do believe management is trying to take care of it as best as they can. On the other hand, other resident treat the complex very poorly, which makes it harder for Management. People let their dogs defecate Anywhere! My mine issue with the complex is that people aren’t Respectful or cleanly To it. There’s a cleaning lady that comes Monday through Saturday I believe And even though she does a good job It quickly gets ruined by tenants Unfortunately.

1.Rat infestation that they've had for about a year. You will hear them in your walls in the early morning and at night since they're nocturnal. I missed it on my tour and management does not disclose this to new tenants which is something I think they should have an obligation to do legally.

This Building is own by RATS! Yes, rats! These filthy creatures infest every nook and cranny of the building, and I cannot go a single day without seeing or hearing them scurrying about.
But the rats are just the tip of the iceberg. The leasing agents, who are supposed to be responsible for maintaining the building and ensuring the comfort and safety of its residents, are nothing short of rude and dismissive. Despite the fact that there are security cameras in the building, they have refused to review the footage when my packages were stolen. Can you believe that? They have the nerve to ignore the safety and security of the residents, and they couldn't care less about our concerns.
I implore you, do not make the same mistake that I did. Do not spend your hard-earned money on this dump of a building. It is not worth the stress, frustration, and disgust that comes with living here. I have had enough, and I cannot in good conscience allow anyone else to fall victim to this terrible place.
