In entrance, Forest officers are instructed us about 8 km walking. Actually it is a tracking place. So not fit for family.
If you proper trekking suite like Shoes and bags.. then you can go there. Otherwise, family with kids don't attempt this place .. this is not fit for us.
Instead you can Meenwallam water falls.

Wonderful and must visit spot if you love solo trekking or group trekking . i was with the group and had a lot of fun throughout the visit. very good place to visit on a holiday. Friendly travel guide too.
Water is a necessity to bring or you'll have to wait till you reach the waterfall to drink water. Waterfall's water was very tasty.

A trek that leads to the lovely voice of nature
The 4km trek from the base point will take you to the popular Dhoni waterfalls. The trek itself is a sight of wonder. We were completely surrounded by nature. The waterfall was light during the time we visited but still it was a lifetime experience. In our batch, my friend and I were the only customers. The time spent on the top made us reconnect with mother nature. A must place to visit in Palakkad
The trek can be little tiring if you're not used to walking long distance w/o break. I'd not suggest this to old people as there's no coming back from halfway after entering into the trek.
The trek costs Rs 120/person. You have to buy the tickets from the counter and they accept only digital payment. The network will be fluctuating in the area. There are no nearby shops or food stalls for 2km. The total trek covers 8km (4 up and 4 down)
There are several buses from Palakkad junction to Dhoni waterfalls.

Dhoni waterfall requires us to hike 8-9kms (1 way stretch) to reach the waterfall. The forest officers sends teams in batches with 1 guide. The nature and the stillness towards the trek is beautiful. There were no animals but we were warned about leopards and elephants on the loose. The ticket was around 100rs per person. Once you arrive, you can just relax in the waterfall. The return journey is quite easy.
Not recommended for elderly people as the steep climb may not be easy. They do not allow cars/bikes inside. Car and bus Parking is available.

Dhoni Waterfalls is a popular spot for picnic and tour in Kerala. An entry pass is required before entering the area.
You have to walk 4 km from the bottom of the hill to reach the waterfalls. The roads are not tarred, and one can see water flowing down between the rocks on the way up. Timing is 10am - 1.00 pm .

Nice location. Water level can cary between seasons. It's good from July to October. Then water level reduces.
Clear water. Nice place for a dip. Very cold water.
This place can only be accessed after hiking of 4 kms uphill .
You will need to go with a guide from Forrest department..you can't go alone. There are tickets as well. Call them to get the timings. The last session of the day is at 1 pm

This place is great for a weekend hike. You need to get a ticket from the counter for 120 ₹. The hike happens as batches, one at 10:30AM and the other starts at 1:30PM. It's 8km in total to and fro to trek. There will be a guide & two dogs accompanying you during the hike. Carry water and snacks if needed. Please don't throw plastics in the forest.
Note: Please call and confirm before visiting as they might be closed in-between days. Also go half an hour before the batch starts because if members in a batch go more than a certain number, they will close the gate and will only allow you to attend the next batch.
