I'm a fan so just being at her family home was a treat. The home is occupied so don't disturb. Hopefully, whoever owns it will refurbish one day soon. It's a treasure in the arts, social justice, black, and women movements!

Lorraine Vivian Hansberry was a playwright and writer. She was the first African-American female author to have a play performed on Broadway. Her best known work, the play A Raisin in the Sun, highlights the lives of Black Americans living under racial segregation in Chicago. Her home needs some fixing up and renovations

There is no Chicago historical sign for this house, there’s a rundown porch which I hope gets some renovation soon. She sounds like a really cool woman and deserves to be honored. :)
