We had our 8 mth old baby with us and completed the entire trail with her strapped on my chest. Was actually a bit much with the heat. I familiarized myself with the hike but still hadn't expected to spend quite so much time climbing dunes in the full sun. Absolutely beautiful trails and amazing views. Was definitely worthwhile. Maybe next time I would start earlier to avoid some of the heat. (We hiked around 11 am - 1230 pm. Our girl loved it. She took in the scenery, enjoyed a bottle feeding, took a brief nap, and laughed hysterically at her mom who was laboring up the dunes behind us. 😂😂

The hiking trails offered a perfect blend of challenge and beauty, with stunning views of the dunes and Lake Michigan. Each step was accompanied by breathtaking scenery, making the trek truly worthwhile. The well-maintained paths and informative signs enriched the journey, providing insights into the area's natural history. Whether you're an avid hiker or just looking for a serene escape, Sleeping Bear Point Trailhead is a must-visit destination that captures the essence of Michigan's natural beauty. Highly recommended for a memorable outdoor adventure!

Mid level hike. Amazing views. Lots of sand walking and climbing up and down.

The trail was moderately easy only because it’s lose sand. The view at the end was pretty. I would have give it 5 stars but the black flys were horrible and we even sprayed bug repellent on us before we started out! So we only stayed a few minutes!

There wasn't too much parking, but there were a few spaces open when we arrived in the middle of the day. The beach is gorgeous, turquoise blue. A lot of people were bringing chairs and coolers since it's only a 0.3-mile walk to the beach h. It's probably the nicest beach we saw in the park.

The scenery was gorgeous. The best views in the area. The hike around the dunes was a tough one. I’m not a fan of sand on a good day and this didn’t endear me in any way. Definitely make sure to stock up on water and hit the bathroom before starting this endeavor as 98% of the hike is sand and sun. I think I got an inkling of what it’s like being a desert nomad.

Went first thing in the morning, and it was perfect. Stunning views. A bit of a climb at times, but nothing terribly difficult. It's well marked with tall blue painted posts. There are lots of exposed areas so make sure to wear that sunscreen. There were also a number of flies at different points on the trail so deet is recommended. Finally, watch out for poison ivy which is very close to some of the wooded parts of the trail.
