Great trail. Good views - not as good as the overlook but was less crowd! East path.

It was tons of fun hiking this trail! I do recommend bringing a windbreaker. It gets pretty windy in the dunes. I did hike it in early autumn, if I were hiking in summer, I'd definitely bring water, a protein bar, and a hat. The hike is pretty hilly, but it gives you a very close look to the dune biome, and a better look at the dunes as a whole. Give yourself 45 minutes to an hour to leisurely stroll this trail and take in the views.

At about 1.75 miles, this trail isn't difficult because it's amazingly long. It's more to do with the sand you wind up trudging through, as well as the general lack of any substantive shade. There are also numerous points where people have carved additional (unmarked) trails to other dunes, so an app like AllTrails can be very helpful. There are sign posts that are pretty easy to find so you can make sure you're on the right track, too.

In addition to views of Glen Lake, Dune Climb, and Lake Michigan, it's pretty cool being able to walk through and see all the diverse types of plants that are able to survive in such a unique environment.

Don’t forget water. We really enjoyed this hike. Follow the fence posts with painted green tips so you don’t get lost. Please do not stop onto the fragile plants growing off the trail. Limited parking spaces available.

A nice short hike to a beautiful view. Take the scenic drive to get to it. It is a great hike with some vigor needed. Many ways to get to the same view for less experienced hikers take the lowland path it is blazed with light blue and there is a dark blue blaze as well. Have fun stay on the designated trail as there are protected areas to the left and right of the trails. You may want to explore but there are plant species that need to stay there, so be kind and stay on the path and obey the rules. Happy hiking.
