Amazing views for only a short hike (15 minutes each way). Path is a bit rocky and steep so wear appropriate footwear.

Pretty river gorge. We did not take the chairlift. We walked up the river to the lookout point. Nice, but not stunning. Worth a visit, but would not detour to see it.

Yeah, I’ll say it’s ok. I’m an medium-Level experienced hiker, and came down from the mainland for the day to hike and explore. Sign from the bridge said 50 minutes return. For the beginner it’s doable in half. When you get there, it’s a big valley, not much water flow or scenic separation. I think there were a few better hikes and trails around the area, which I enjoyed more.

Only 5 minutes drive from the city centre of Launceston is a 30 minute round trip easy walk to Sentinel Lookout, overlooking Cataract Gorge between Second and Third Basins. The walker may optionally do longer walks if they wish.

Our 3yo loved the walk from the suspension bridge as the terrain was very interesting. She even trooped up the last 90m with the promise of an amazing viewing platform - which it absolutely was. (Our 10mth old didn't care).
