I have been here twice. Both wait times were in excellent of 24 hours. If you are deathly illi you will be seen sooner. Since my heart condition was not considered serious the wait was absurdly long. After not eating for 24 hours I had bad heartburn and it took several hours to get 2 pills. One of the nurses was exceptional and found something for me to eat. I was told by the representative of the hospital that the reason things are so bad is that the State will not allow them to build more buildings. On the other hand, there were enough staff to handle all of the patients. Lots of double speak but no solutions. I am only here because of the outstanding doctors. Otherwise I would go elsewhere.

This place is a nightmare. I've been sitting in the waiting room for over seven hours with an I.V. hanging out of my arm. I ask the staff about the wait and all they said was that they're "very full." They took me back and did a few tests within 30 mintutes of my arrival. Then told me to go sit in the waiting room. Again, that was over seven hours ago. After they did all these tests I feel like I cant just leave. If I knew how long this would take, I'm sure I would have explored a different option.

If I could give them no stars I would! The waiting time in the emergency room is ridiculous!!! your in there waiting a cool 9-10 hours before being seen and your always being told “it’s no rooms available” customer service is trash right along with the wait. All & all this was my FIRST & LAST time ever coming to bay view

The spirit of customer service and passion-for-work is absent in the hearts of most of the employees here. There are a golden few, though. One of which I’d like to shout-out for his compassionate and friendly attitude, Mr. Randall Lucas. Thank you for your amazingly gentle and respectful nature toward me. I pray that your goodness rubs off on your fellow employees.

This is the worst Emergency room ever. I went there with chest pain. Got there at about 2pm and left at 1130pm without seeing a provider. They did an EKG, drew blood after sticking me four times. Didn’t remember to do Troponin level until I had waited more that 5 hours. I literally had to tell the student PA what to do while trying to draw my blood she wasn’t going to flush the line and wanted to push saline into a locked line. I was ordered a Chest X-ray. The tech came to call me from the waiting area. While I followed him from behind. I was feeling very dizzy and weak. This guy was about almost a mile from me before he looked back . Then asked “ are you okay” if I was okay, I would not be at the ER. Three days after leaving the ER, I looked in my chart and noticed, the nurse stated “ left AMA” that was a lie. I put the call bell on and nobody answered. What if I had fallen. I called them, and the nurse hung up, I called back and she refused to answer. When I used my daughter’s phone, somebody answered but will not transfer to the nurse. Do not go to this ER if you value your life. They are very unprofessional, careless and have little to no regard for human dignity and life . Spread the word, it’s just the hospital name “ Hopkins” the staff here are terrible. I should give them zero if there was that option.

I just left the ER after a 15 hour wait. I am in tears. No one communicated anything to me. I came in short of breath, tight chest, dizziness. The results of my blood work is popping up on my chart and that’s the only way I know what is going on. I have a history of heart failure. The overnight CNA was wonderful. She rubbed my back and encouraged me. She told me I was a priority but there was 7 people in front of me. Hours pass and the shift changes. I ask a nurse for an update. She barks, “I don’t know!” and abruptly walks away. The new young CNA tells me that there is one person ahead of me and I will be next. Time goes by and other people are called. I go to the triage window. They ignore me and continue typing on their computers. I ask another CNA for help. She scans my bracket and says she will inquire. I never see her again.
I ask the previous CNA what’s going on. She has an attitude and tells me I’m being dismissive and she doesn’t have time to go back and forth. She says I have two options, wait or go home. She’s nasty. I tell her that she doesn’t have to do anything for me. She vanishes. I am in hysterical tears at this point. I go back to the triage window and they tell me my Tropomin a heart enzyme is slightly elevated. All I wanted was someone to communicate something to me. The nurses give me a song and dance but I’m so hurt I just storm out as they are still talking to me.
Just really upset right now.

"Visitor Lounge" is like a bus station on a very cold night. It's absolutely full of homeless people claiming illness for free food and warmth. If at all possible, get dropped off at a decent hospital in the suburbs, take a cab, Uber, whatever. If you call an ambulance, they may take you to this retched place. Once past the looney bin waiting room, it's much better. But, your relatives or friends will have to sit out there for hours before they let them back.

The people who work there are great, and so many are genuinely caring. Admin staff, Nurses, Orderly, doctors. All wonderful!! If you're admitted, I'm sure you'll get great care from the staff
The ER itself is horrible. Being from Baltimore, I've always been proud that Hopkins is such a huge part of the city. This ER doesn't make me proud. Myself and two others who are close to me, we've had 3 visits to this ER within the past 5 months. Wait times in each situation were 10 to 14 hours on the low end. Two left before being seen because there was no updates or end in sight. The waiting room is filled often with drug addicts, people with mental health issues, etc. While I'm sympathetic to some of these situations, it doesn't make for a good environment when trying seek emergency assistance, stuck sitting in a waiting room all day. I'm shocked that such a critical area of Hopkins could be managed so poorly.
Horribly run ER. I know it's not easy making a decision on which ER to go to during a stressful emergency situation, but I would recommend another ER if you have the option. Not a pleasant experience
