Management is dishonest. They post job ads for positions that are not available, then they try to get you to accept a lower position after telling you the position you applied for is not available.

While I am still new to the club I feel NYSC Hawthorne is a bit of a mixed bag. The membership process was straight forward and I enjoyed working with the team to get started. The locker rooms are large and I like that I am always able to find a treadmill to run on.
I will echo some of the maintenance and organization concerns. The weights are not well organized making it somewhat difficult to find the right ones, the drinking fountain seems to be hit or miss, and some of the machines are quite worn from use.
The gym is serving the purpose, but with a little attention to detail this place could definitely hit five stars.

The equipment in Hawthorne is old and outdated. Several pieces are in disrepair, are rusted, or the grips are falling off/missing. The White Plains location’s equipment is much nicer and in better condition. The Hawthorne location is poorly maintained.

Starting with the gym, it isn't well-maintained or the cleanest. For the casual audience or newcomers there is plenty to use, but has quite limited mileage with the amount of unmaintained and mechanically faulty equipment that WILL keep experienced lifters from more optimally achieving their goals, and I cant sugar-coat this but that's probably the point. The facilities on the other hand are perfectly fine(shoutouts to the cleaning ladies).
While I'm sure the staff are fine people, I've had multiple account/payment issues that were ongoing, forcing me to nag employees about such issues(which really could be avoided if just done properly the first time). Even worse were the multiple emails I have detailing changes that have NEVER occurred. Its a shame that while staff are helpful at times, I couldnt recommend the any location for NYSC given its consistent lack of general upkeep and awareness for account management (which is ridiculous if they expect a maintenance/yearly charge). More care put into the IT would likely help wrangle many of these backend account issues and end the dependence on employees for such contingencies. For those who couldnt care otherwise, this gym is for you i suppose. Quite a shame(but not a surprise) that such a sizeable company couldnt be bothered to invest to tidy up these easily preventible/resolvable issues.

Once you join, you should budget in a few extra months to try to cancel your membership. First, they will only allow you to cancel in person. This is a completely arbitrary policy designed to extract money from customers. There is simply no rationale for this
Even if you cancel in person, you have to cancel 6 days prior tot the start of the next billing cycle again, totally ludicrous and arbitrary policy designed to separate customers from
Their money
I’ve been a customer of NYSC multiple times in my life. Based on this experience, I’ll never step foot on this gym again

Response to NYSC response
Thank you for eventually agreeing to reverse the charge after I showed you that I did, in fact, email you my cancellation request and NYSC did not reply
Secondly, I stand by my earlier comment. That is, your policy, particularly that members cannot cancel over the phone, it arbitrary and designed to delay a customer termination. People cancel memberships, services, etc. all of the time and its nearly always the case you can do it on the spot over the phone. You are way out of step with the modern world and this "policy" has only one goal: that is to separate customers from their money

This is an excellent gym. Here's why: the friendliness and professionalism of the staff; the wide variety of exercise machines serving different kinds of workouts; the cleanliness of the facility; and finally, the gym members themselves who are of all ages and extremely polite.

Front desk staff; Simply the Best. My favorite unwinding place. They welcome me and get my psych up for the day's workout. Gym well equipped and space is great
