This museum provides an excellent explanation about how the warehousing district evolved as a result of the unification of Germany under Bismarck, after which Hamburg was no longer a Free City therefore warehousing had to be concentrated within the Free Port. There are English explanations of each exhibit, which are shorter than those in German, however they are sufficient to understand what the museum is about. More detailed explanations in English are available on demand.

You could spend the whole day at the museum. It's just one room but the amount of information and history in it is mesmerising! You can learn about the history of trade in Hamburg.

It's very small. But gives you a general overview of the Speicherstadt. Unfortunately the English translation is far shorter and omits information when compared to German. But nothing too important.
There is also a café and they do guided tours, which I unfortunately wasn't able to take.

The warehouse district of Hamburg is considered the largest warehouse district in the world and consists of 17 building complexes of seven or eight floors with a total area of 300,000 square meters. In the past few centuries, valuable goods such as coffee, cocoa, tea, tobacco, spices and pickles were stored in this area, and in the past decades, oriental carpets have also been added to these items.

What others have already written. The owner/staff were weird, bordering on unfriendly. One of the two men was constantly staring at people as if we were there to rob him. I'd have given 4 stars if it weren't for this man. Currently everyone can enter but you need to register with Luca app. The museum is tiny, it's just one room.

A small museum telling you the history of that neiborhood. It's mostly in German, with about a third on the content translated into English. It's not super informative, but quite lively. A place for both adults and kids.
