How good is Good Gilbert!
The place is pretty popular so I don't think I'm telling anyone anything they don't already know, but this place is great.
Cosy, comfortable setting with a nice mix of tables and bar stools, plus outside seating for when it's warm.
Drinks are great, bar tenders know their stuff and craft well. Really good wine list, too so you can't really go wrong. Surprisingly thoughtful non alcoholic list, too for the non drinkers, drivers and pregnant people amongst us.
Food is quite yum as well! Great snacks list and a good menu for the more substantial needs. Something for everyone here.

Mixed feelings… We really wanted to enjoy this venue as it’s a local but our experience was pretty hit and miss.
For the price point you would have expected a bit more service — to order at the bar is fine but here you get no real idea about how much to order/what is good to share etc, it felt impersonal. This venue has fine dining prices for a very casual experience and what’s the point of such an extensive wine list without any guidance through it? One of the bar staff was on her phone the whole time and when we went to pay had us stand around and wait?
Dishes were hit and miss, we loved the lamb ribs but had to send the steak back as it was served cold (grateful to have this replaced) Broccolini was ok, our lettuce salad had sand through it but we weren’t asked how the meals were so felt a bother to raise the issue.
Otherwise, wine nice! Ambience of the place was pleasant. Glad to have tried but will stick with more familiar wine bars for a nice meal in future.

Had dinner there last Friday before attending a fringe show nearby. As I was not very hungry, I ordered just a starter dish whilst the others ordered main. The kitchen send out the starter first ( no mistake of theirs). The waitress who took our orders apologised for not informing the food to be served at the same time. I ate my meal first whilst the others waited abit before theirs were served. Overall the meal was great and appetising. Love the roasted potatoes! Forgot to take photos though.. 😆
This was just voted to be AUSTRALIA’S BEST WINE BAR. They got all the bangers @reasonable prices.

We'd last visited during this year's Fringe and had 75min before a 6pm film at the Capri. We scored an outside table in the sun and were soon enjoying drinks, then 3 share plates - School Prawns, Brussel Sprouts (fried , with goat's curd, pepitas, chilli, mint $20) and Sirloin (with jerusalem artichoke crisps and chimichurri $39)
The food was fabulous and wine by the glass and beer were well priced!
