The audio/tablet tour is worth the extra €7.
Otherwise you'll be reading things, if you can find them.. but get no stories or context.
( If that's too much, maybe try to get one from someone before they hand theirs in?)
It takes about 60-90 min to do the audio tour if you listen to all the stories.
Yes, you need to exit through the giant gift shop.
Great bathrooms.

You need to enter within 1 hour of your ticket time.

The dome is spectacular. But it is overrun with tourists and quite an effort (many escalators) to get to the glass viewing deck and then quite a wait. Up even more escalators will get you to the jam packed viewing deck. It’s free, so that’s a good thing, but everyone knows it’s free and that’s not the best thing.

Visiting the Palais Garnier in Paris was an absolutely enchanting experience that transported me into a world of opulence and artistry. This iconic opera house, completed in 1875 and designed by architect Charles Garnier, is a masterpiece of the Beaux-Arts style, and stepping inside feels like entering a grand fairy tale.

The moment you walk through the ornate entrance, you're greeted by the lavish decor, but nothing quite prepares you for the breathtaking beauty of the grand staircase. However, the highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the stunning auditorium, particularly the room adorned with magnificent chandeliers. The chandeliers, with their countless crystals sparkling like stars, cast a warm and inviting glow throughout the space, creating an atmosphere of elegance and grandeur.

The auditorium itself is a visual feast, featuring rich red velvet seats and intricate gold detailing that enhances the overall opulence. As I sat in the majestic space, I couldn't help but admire the ceiling painted by Marc Chagall, which adds a touch of modern art to the historic setting. The combination of the chandeliers and the vibrant ceiling creates a mesmerizing contrast that captivates visitors.

Beyond the stunning visuals, the Palais Garnier is steeped in history and culture, having hosted countless operas, ballets, and performances over the years. The guided tours provide fascinating insights into its architectural significance and the stories of the performances that have graced its stage.

Overall, my visit to the Palais Garnier was a highlight of my time in Paris. The combination of stunning architecture, exquisite chandeliers, and rich history makes it a must-see attraction for anyone visiting the city. Be sure to take your time to soak in the beauty of the space and appreciate the artistry that has made this opera house a true symbol of Parisian culture.

Amazing place to visit. The guides are very nice and helpful. When you enter this place it’s like you are entering another world. A lot of great art work especially on the sealing. Also it’s a great place to take pictures. So when you want to visit come early so you have time to take pictures and enjoy the art.

Absolutely stunning. Speechless. This grandiose opera house is a true architectural marvel, with its opulent interiors, stunning chandeliers, and richly decorated ceilings. Walking through the elegant halls and taking in the beauty of the Grand Staircase was like stepping back in time to a more glamorous era. The highlight was definitely the grand auditorium, with its plush red seats and the breathtaking Chagall ceiling.

I selected the after hours tour at 17:00, and it was an excellent decision. You tour this opera house in a small group, which allows you to take beautiful pictures with almost no people blocking your shots. Our guide was very knowledgeable and his English was perfect. I definitely recommend picking this tour.

Was excited to go but the lines and crowds were akin to a ride at Disneyland, with folks cutting in line. I had two tickets I pre bought but one wouldn’t work! Crowds are too big to experience much and most of the lady employees were rude rude rude. Not any real options for elderly or disabled to experience with many steps to climb. I totally appreciate the Chagall ceiling as hard to find a lot of his work displayed but not really worth your time in my opinion. Choose another option with your money in a less crowded and touristy section of Paris!
