Lakeside Railway Station - Puffing Billy Railway

A must-visit destination! The steam engine train and the scenic views were truly impressive. Sitting closer to the engine can make the air a bit challenging to breathe, but overall, it was a wonderful experience

It was a great time to visit Puffing Billy again. This was my 2nd time to go there. Great to see that there are visitor center over there. So that there is a place for visitors to stay.

With tickets sold out, we just can see the departure of the night train. The lakeside stroll is a must activity with beautiful scenery and tranquility in winter time.

Enjoyable experience. This is a must go if you are at Victoria. The view is nice from the train but it is the experience of being in a steam train that defeats all scenery you can see. The smell of steam and the sound of the whistle. Makes you think that you’ve travelled back in time but you still have your cameras to capture moments.
My first time on a steam train and I’ve enjoyed myself. It’s even more amazing that they’ve got passionate volunteers as well.

We went to lakeside to visit the steam locomotives as we do regularly. Disappointingly you are now no longer allowed on any platforms to view the locomotives. We especially used to enjoy seeing them steaming in and out of lakeside. Now you can’t see them at all as there is no where to actually view the trains at lakeside other than the platforms. We will definitely not be visiting lakeside again.

I feel like I’ve transported back in time again. The view was beautiful along the way. It is best to arrive early and get yourself a good spot to sit. You are allowed to sit on the window so you could hang your feet out, but not for a kid under 8 I think. Make sure to bring some snacks, as it could take a while to reach to Lakeside from Belgrave.

State of the art visitors centre in the heart of Emerald, beautifuly situated in the midst of the pristine bush with native flora and fauna. Inside the centre is the Railway Cafe, bathrooms and museum, great to learn about the Puffing Billy heritage.
