Loved the food here. The service is very nice and it is right in Thamel Market so the vibe is different as well. The Nepali Thali is my go to here but the starters are.good as well. Try it out if you are in the area.

I recently dined at Thamel Dhawa and unfortunately, my experience with their chicken biryani left much to be desired. As a lover of Indian cuisine, I was eager to try their take on this classic dish, but regrettably, it fell short of expectations.

Firstly, the texture of the rice was far from the fragrant, fluffy perfection that defines a good biryani. Instead, it was overly mushy and lacked any distinct flavor. It seemed as though the rice had been overcooked or perhaps left sitting for too long before serving.

Moreover, the chicken itself was disappointingly dry and lacked the succulence and tenderness expected in a well-prepared biryani. The spices, which should have infused every bite with warmth and depth, were strangely muted, leaving the dish bland and uninspiring.

Additionally, the portion size was rather small considering the price, leaving me feeling unsatisfied both in terms of taste and value for money.

Despite the restaurant's ambiance and service being satisfactory, the subpar quality of their chicken biryani overshadowed the entire dining experience.

Overall, I cannot recommend Thamel Dhawa for their chicken biryani. For those seeking an authentic and flavorful rendition of this beloved dish, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Nice casual dining with friendly quick service. Lots of space upstairs on the roof top for gatherings and was relaxing for a pre lunch milk tea. We had the butter chicken masala, malai kofta and the matar paneer which were all great. The matar paneer was a pleasant surprise with the paneer having a smokey element to it.
Lots of gf and vego friendly options too, will visit again.

The atmosphere is the only key to this restaurant. All the other factors, whether it be the food, services or menu, its pathetic! It is so much overpriced that you won't believe when you will the spooned-size quantity served to you with poor food quality and no great taste. The rotis (flatbreads) were so thin that you would eat 10 rotis and won't realise. For this baby-food cooked in unhygienic kitchen, they literally took hour wasting everyone's time. This is the worst North Indian restaurant I have seen in THE WORLD.

The quality of food is only beaten by the hospitality here. The host helped me decide the best meal for tonight based on how I felt and went out of his way to ensure I was comfortable. The momos and chicken was super good as well.
