A fantastic bookstore, with great and unique book collection. The dog and owner super friendly and chilled.

A lovely shop! Really enjoyed our time here and the owner was kind enough to help with some recommendations etc and was lovely to chat to!

Amazing bookshop, has everything and anything, manager/owner/staff all super helpful if you have a question.. Great range of children's books (not sure about the comments made recently - I'd imagine a one off). Great to support local small businesses and this is one of my faves :)

We went to look at the children's books, but the owner managed to tell off our two year old twice in the two minutes we were in there for going past their enormous dog (not attempting to touch it or anything) on the way in and out of the shop - which was sat in the middle of the floor. There are also scolding signs on every surface telling you not to drop the books, telling you to wash your hands, etc. I've never seen a less welcoming bookshop! Incredibly strange and uncomfortable atmosphere, so we left quickly. Shame, as we like to support independent neighbourhood businesses.

I wanted to review the amazing Rye Books, to counteract some negative comments about it being unwelcoming to children. On the contrary, I’ve always found it to be a brilliant place to bring my kids, and Alistair has constantly encouraged and suggested some brilliant choices for my young children to read. It’s a wonderful local shop, with an amazing selection of books!
