Great staff, incredibly valuable resource for community

Had a horrible experience here. Brought my autistic son to the pool to watch his older cousin swim and the lifeguard got right in my child's face screaming at him. I tried to find out the problem and the lifeguard then turned on me screaming in my face. I could not get the lifeguard to stop screaming and I took my son out of there. Horrible experience for my child.

More reliable than the Wilson Aquatic Center. A few quirks to the locker rooms and showers. Gets crowded at 4 pm Saturdays.

The pool sometimes does not open during their official opening hours. Crowds waiting outside to get in but doors locked.

PSA - DON'T LEAVE VALUABLES IN THE LOCKER. I had a lock clipped and my wallet/phone stolen in aug 2022. It's pretty clear this happens occasionally - bring your valuables to the pool deck. With that said, I like the pool despite it being a bit busy.

Loved the pool, but the locker room lacks most of the amenities you need like towels and soap. And you also need to bring your own lock to use the locker. (Haven’t been to other pools in the neighborhood so not sure if this is normal)

The swimming community at Marie Reed is a joy. People are always willing to split the lane when it gets busy, so you can swim at your own pace. The pool is free for DC residents; that makes a big difference for someone like me who swims regularly for exercise.
The pool hours are rather strange, so be sure to look ahead before leaving home. I’d love to see the pool open on Sundays too.
