Schasel Park serves as a trailhead for the Empire State Trail/Canalway Trail. There is a nice watered section of the enlarged canal before it all gets a bit overgrown further to the east. This section of canal trail between Schasel and the Centerport Aqueduct is 2.2 miles in length, which makes for a nice walk. The trail surface is stone dust and is in fair condition. There is a potta-potty on site during the warmer months.

The Farmers Market on Wednesdays is my go-to spot for fresh veggies and fruit! Vendors have many baked items, honey ect.

This WAS a nice little park . Then they started to slowly take the play ground things out as the needed to be replaced . Now there is nothing but a picnic area. It needs something so people can take there kids to and have a nice family outing.

Small park at the head of a watered section of the sole Erie Canal (the canal bed was filled in and the park built on top). Picnic shelter on site that could easily fit a family celebration or small event. Signage about Erie Canal. Close to center of Port Byron village. Along canal bike trail.

We have had get togethers or just walk the trail and the kids can run atound and have fun.

Little park with picnic shelter at the Port Byron and of the canal biking/walking trail to Weedsport, NY

Great place, bike friendly. They just put in a bicycle station with stand, pump and tools.

This is a nice linear park with a path that used to be the mule towpath along the original 1800's Erie canal. The abandoned Erie canal is a ditch that runs parallel to the trail. We traversed this park during the NYS Parks & Trails bicycle tour of the Erie canal.
