Baut does refined small dishes with very fresh ingredients in a sharing concept on the a la Carte menu. Everything we tried was extremely tasty, fresh and light, not reckoning the chips, a secret sin worth adding. Portions are quite small and just having 2 dishes per person without sides would have been too little for us. Deserts were normal to big size and delicious. It was nice to sit outside and service was quick and friendly. We did not have the time to try out the 3-5 course menus and compare with Baut Zuid unfortunately.

Good trendy spot with a nice terrace for a (rare) sunny dutch day in Ams. Nice staff, friendly and kind. Nice selection of food and delicious.

I didn’t know what to expect as I was a tourist from the UK, but the hotel next door recommended the place, so I wanted to give it a try, and I had a very pleasant experience.
They were busy on a Friday evening, but they still accomodated me as a table of one, which I appreciated. What I didn’t expect is that I will be sitting in front of the open kitchen, face to face with the chefs :D I was a bit surprised, but went with the flow.
Their head chef was very polite when he greeted me, and talked to me a few times throughout the evening. And for those who went for his special menu, he brought over the dishes, and explained to them what they were.
I had the crayfish cannelloni, which was delicious, and the mille feuille for dessert, which was not only great, but the presentation of it was beautiful too.
Their dishes are designed for sharing with others, so you should probably other two or three in one go (depending on how many people), but one dish for myself was enough.
The floor staff and the chefs were both lovely. Everybody speaks perfect English (which I was very happy about, because I don’t know a word in Dutch). And you can see on them that they truly enjoy what they’re doing.
The restaurant itself looks very cool too. Highly recommend!

Been to BAUT many times. I always go for the chefs menu which is very well priced in my opinion. The last time I went however I did feel like it really wasn't enough food. Most people were still hungry after dinner. If you are booking a table of more than 6, I'd go somwhere else as you will be seated on separate tables and will likely have to remind service about your drinks etc many times.

I really liked the layout and how open it is so it brings everyone together. The 4 course meal was interesting and very fun as well as the wine choices to match the dish spot on. Mitchell makes you feel at home, it’s a very good experience and atmosphere.

It wasnt a bad experience overall. Its just really not worth your money. "Shared dining" appears to mean very expensive little dishes. Although very tasty , ridiculously overpriced. One plate is like barely enough for two people to take decent bites. I had to cut a blueberry in half because we were with four people and they couldnt even put 4 blueberries on the dish. We ordered almost the whole list and were still full. The service was ok, cant complain about students making a few bucks. Atmosphere feels like a hip grand cafe, not a place where you pay 16e for 5 f ing ravioli. Its a shame cause the food is pretty good and the chef puts real effort in it. i hope the owner gets a reality check. Highly unreccomend

The only bad feedback I would give is that we did not like the seabass that since the sauce was really salty and there were lots of sand in the mussel (even mussel that I bought from supermarket has less sand)
The waiter/waitress were really nice and friendly. The restaurant would be consider a bit pricey comparing with the portion size; however, it is understandable since the food was well made and good position in Amsterdam. We tried the steak, seabass, makerel and the aubergine. The makerel and aubergine were absolutely delicious.
