I gave 3 stars for the room becaus3 I've not stayed at the Mill as a guest. Location is brilliant. I went with a friend and sank some pints with a cheesy chips. The cheese was strong and chips crispy which is how I like them. The the portion a bit too small for the price though. Staff very friendly and welcoming and we got fireside sofas, although no fire actually burning but the atmosphere is all there. We went in the mid afternoon so it was quiet but I imagine it gets busy on weekends and evenings. Cheers

Amazing Riverside Atmosphere βš“οΈ

Mill on the Exe plays host to a fantastic setting and atmosphere on the banking of Exeter Quay. With plenty of seating both inside and out, and with great decor to match, there truly is not a bad seat in the house. πŸͺ΄

πŸ¦‘ For our food we tried the Salt and Pepper Squid, house Burgers as well as the seafood sharer 🍀 All food was fresh and the seafood platter was a plentiful portion! Presentation was slightly lacking on both our starters and burgers, but made up for it in flavour πŸ˜‹

Whether you are having a drink by the river side or a family meal by the bar, Mill on the Exe is an Exeter must visit! 🌊

🌟 Recommendations: Salt and Pepper Squid, Seafood Sharer 🍀

⛔️ Drawbacks: Presentation of food

πŸ¦‘ Squid Rating: 8/10

Fancy place with great food selection. Nearing summer you could come here and have dinner and have a nice walk down to the Quay. Cannot think of a better place to bring your first date.

Mostly locals and much less students because of the steeper price compared to neighboring premises.

A nice place set up down by the river to have a beer.

Pretty environment along the river. Was there for Sunday Roast. Food was impressive. Has large TVs showing live sports program. Comfy place to spend a relaxing Sunday. Better make reservation for peak days

Stayed here for two nights. It only has eleven rooms and each has its own allocated parking space in a small separate car park. Greeted by a very friendly and helpful guy at the reception. We had a room over looking the beer garden and river which was clean, comfortable and well decorated. Breakfast was great, one of the best full English breakfasts I've eaten, cooked to order with quality bacon and sausages. My wife had the smashed avocado which was also excellent. The two staff were also brilliant, friendly and efficient.
Highly recommended as an alternative choice to the big hotels in the area.

Location is great, beautiful views from the restaurant and the gardens of the Quay.
The staff are more than helpful and friendly
Prices are average for Exeter and the location.
Unfortunately they could do with a bigger car park as if busy that's a nightmare and parking is a long way to walk if full.

Unfortunately, this time round the prawn and squid linguini was far too oily I couldn't eat it, couldn't taste flavour only oil which was a shame and the gammon was far too salty more than what gammon should be.

Apart from this the burgers were lovely would have been better with something more than just chips pm the side.

Hopefully next time will be better because normally they are fab πŸ‘Œ

The setting along the Exe River and the history of the property lends a lot of charm. (It used to be a paper mill.) Best of all, the pub, which is connected, has good food and drink. In nice weather, you can even take a pint of cider or ale out to a patio area or picnic table along the river. Only a 15-minute walk from the cathedral and the Royal Albert museum. Highly recommended!
