National Taiwan Museum Nanmen Branch

The Red Brick Camphor and Opium museum was fascinating! The top floor goes over history of power and electrification. I didn't have high expectations but ended up enjoying it much more than the national museum. Displays and artifacts are great.

Walked past and went in for a visit.
A lady was very kind to approach us for a chat and explained about the history of Nanmen to us.

Seeing how excited and our eagerness to understand more, she called her senior colleague (who's not around at that time) to come over to explained more in depth to us. (Explanation in mandarin)

We had wonderful lessons about Nanmen and Camphor usage.
A very memorable experiences indeed.

We left thru a different exit and unable to say big thank you to the ladies that been serving us.

Huge museum you will be able to spend 2 hours easily if you explore everything

the building itself is nice. there is a good restuarant below it but there were only few exhibit unlike the taipei national museum

There are two exhibitions halls, the white house and the red house. A beautiful garden and a dining hall that can be used for events. I will have to go back and visit more in details, but overall worth a stop if you are visiting the neighborhood.

An OK small museum with scientific drawings and its history when I visited for a school trip. It’s worth seeing the remarkable artistic abilities of humankind as we learn about our environment and nature. Only NT20 admittance and there is also a restaurant inside (seems like nice environment with American style foods and cafe). The “little White House” is well maintained and can be used for lecture and teaching time. It’s more interesting if you sign up for the tour. Maybe spend one-hour at most.

Beautifully restored colonial era building houses a veritable camphor diaspora. All you ever wanted to know and more. Well worth the NT$20 admission fee.

The three buildings here, the remnants of a huge industrial facility that once processed camphor and opium, stand out for their unique architecture. They are remarkably well-preserved, thanks to efforts to convert historically significant buildings into a space for the arts.

The museum is housed on the red brick building by the entrance and showcases the lucrative camphor and opium business. The museum also has a dedicated art space for children, but all exhibits are in Chinese only. The admission fee is 20 NT (less than 1.00 USD). Allot at least an hour when visiting.
