Suva and Terence are exceptional for advice on seafood in Australia - the produce is second to none with the quality much higher than anywhere else in the seafood section of Queen Victoria market - try the NZ King Salmon, the flathead, sea perch/john dory, Australian prawns are to die for as are the local scallops - not to mention a large selection of imported seafood also. Go here it should be your no 1 stop in Queen Victoria market

I went there to buy clams, I noticed they were all open, so I thought and asked if they were pre-cooked, they reassured me that they were fresh and not worry about that.
Once i got home I realised they were completely dead.
Fresh clams must close or at least move when you touch them, and we did…firmly.
When we went back there to make a complaint the guy found the excuse by saying that the clams can be consumed longer after they died and still being fresh, which basically means “i’m selling you a bad and risky product”.
He didn’t even try to have a discussion because he probably knew that the product wasn’t good at all, at least they refunded us right after.
Make sure to check the product with the seller before you buy. Fish can be dangerous otherwise.

Takeaway tray of dozen of st helens oysters, packed in one plastic and 2 paper bags. $24 - other shops at $23 or $26. You can choose to consume there too, they have 2 standing tables. Comes with one wedge of lemon. Had them with some older vintage Riesling.. very nice sweetness for the wine!

A dozen fresh oysters for $28/-. They are fresh and taste great with the brine intact. But felt it is a tad too small in size and pretty expensive for just a dozen.

Tried their lobster roll at the QV night markets. The presentation looked like it's legit but it's not even a claw's worth of meat on there, it's like 80% salad and not even freshly prepared.

Really good seafood. Well cleaned, handled, and served. I ordered a sashimi grade tuna here.

The lobster roll in the night market is scam, they put a few micro shreds of lobster at the top of the bread to make it appear loaded but in reality there is extremely little lobster in the roll, most of it is stuffed with lettuce and salad, then they charge you $24 for it. For the price this is not acceptable and very shady practise. Shameful I wonder what else they play such games with
