2/10/24 - 5 stars
A little biased because it's a local joint and family run, but, genuinely, this is a very cosy, authentic and long standing establishment. Booking in advance probably a good idea especially for their Wednesday seafood night (which I recommend).
Can be very busy as they have only one waiter though he is very competent so there aren't huge delays. It is right next to busy Parramatta Rd so can be a little noisy.
Complimentary bread: S, 8/10. Bread itself quite ordinary but olive oil and balsamic were nice.
Wed Seafood Special
BBQ prawns: SS, 9/10. Some of the biggest and tastiest prawns I've ever had
BBQ octopus: S+, 8.5/10. Well marinated and cooked. Pretty tender
John Dory: S+, 8.5/10. Flaky, tender and a bit sweet. Could perhaps done with a little seasoning but was otherwise excellent
Calamari: SS, 9/10. Well fried and seasoned
Crab cake: SS, 9/10. Actually tasted like real crab
Cold seafood: S, 8/10. Oyster, smoked salmon, octopus and a prawn.
Value: S+, 8.5/10. $30 for this plate is great value
Osso Bucco
Beef: SS, 9/10. Very tender!
Flavour: SS, 9/10. Well rounded gravy with tomatoes, red wine and herbs
Texture: S+, 8.5/10. Maybe slightly thicker would have been nice but otherwise good
Sides: SS, 9/10. Quite liked the asparagus and other veg.
Value: B, 6/10. Decent serving for $42 but not the best value.
Franco Special
Steak: A, 7/10. A little bit more medium than medium rare as requested. Still ok tasting but also a bit smaller than expected.
Prawns: SS, 9/10.
Value: B, 7/10. $43 is also a bit expensive especially compared with the seafood special

An authentic Italian spot, my new favourite spot for some good food. If you haven't been, book yourself a table and just come..delicious food and friendly staff

Classic Italian trattoria l. Food is sensational and Franco and family are wonderful hosts. Can't wait to go back!

Everything we ordered was so delish. The service was also great. The price is worth for what we got and so reasonable. Thank you for making a good food. We really enjoy and love it here! :)

The owner Franco (Francesco) runs this family owned restaurant and runs it exactly like an Italian Trattoria( in Italy) in every respect. He and his crew are very warm friendly and extremely hospitable (so is the atmosphere), and the food is excellent whether it be Anti pasto, Insalata, Pasta or Sea food. A gem of a restaurant!!! This atmosphere and gastronomy, I can assure you, (and I & my family have been to many Italian restaurants in Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane) , is a cut above all restaurants we’ve been to, in Australia, whether it be higher end fine dining or casual, anywhere in Australia. Like I said before, the same satisfaction you’d get from dining in a regional Italian Restaurant in the north or south of Italy. I have introduced four groups of friends, all Italian, who have family back in Italy and travel to Italy frequently, to ‘Da Franco’ and they’re all hooked and have continued to return to dine-in at ‘Da Franco’ with their other friends and family!! Ristorante par excellence!!! Bravo Franco, Bravo!!! 👏

Pass by this restaurant hundred time before Turning into m4. Finally. We stopped. Parked and went in. Family style Italian restaurant. Pasta was good and authentic. You will love it if you want old style Italian.

amazing food and service! their BBQ octopus is so yummy and tender, unfortunately didn't get a photo of that but everything else was amazing too. will definitely be back, especially for the wednesday seafood night!
