We enjoyed Friday night's lecture about dragonflies native to Bitter Lake. We were able to hold live dragonflies and see them up close. Then took them outside and released then.

Amazing refuge! The displays are beautiful, the dragonfly talk was illuminating, and the staff and volunteers are highly knowledgeable and kind.

There was also a star party and in the words of a charming kiddo that was also there, “I got to see a planet! It was so cute!”

Gift store is also lovely. Great pins!

What a beautiful place! Take the drive around, you'll be glad you did! Nice stops along the way to view the landscape and waterways. Very peaceful! If you're stressed, come spend the day out here!

Great birding stop, even in the off season: Avocet, Scaled Quail, Tri-Colored Heron, White Pelican, Plovers, Stilts, American Coots Gadwalls, so many waterfowl.

Lovely, quiet and calm refuge. The visitors center has informative displays and quite friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed the 6 mile self drive that you take at your own pace and saw many birds. Don't forget your binoculars!

What a beautiful natural area! So much peace and quiet and bird life on the waters! This is a great place for a picnic, a hike, or just some meditation time!

The visitor center is absolutely stunning inside and out, and the guide is very friendly and helpful.

We got to see a resting owl in the eastern viewing area and baby swallows that had left the nest and were waiting for their mom.

This isntruly a beautiful quiet place, and we are glad to come here once in a while for nature photography and a nice picnic.
