Was interesting to see another version of a lift lock. We went on a holiday when it wasn't in action, so we didn't get to see how it worked. Was quiet and no people were around. Walked around a bit and took some pictures.
Absolutely beautiful place. Very cool to see how they move the boats up and down from one lake to the other.
An interesting mechanism for transferring boats from dry land to the adjacent lake.
A must see if you are in the area. It's the only "lock" on the Trent-Severn waterway where the boats are taken out of the water on a special railway type vehicle.
There's very little in the immediate area except for the locks, parking lots, and bathrooms.
If you are coming on a motorcycle, the roads to get there and leave a very curvy and a lot of fun to ride!

We had to wait and hold position in our boat until tying up to the Blue line and then another wait as we pulled the boat along as other boats were loading.
The staff did a great job of calling boats forward and loading. We were at the back of the rail in our 45' boat but centered with the sling.
I asked one of the staff members to check my props for damage, and they used my phone camera to take pictures of a line wrapped around the port prop.

A must see if you are interested in engineering, mechanics, or just like a spectacle. We had a group of seven, and everyone thought it was something you should see. If you are elderly or have young children, you should exercise caution. There are open holes in the sidewalk and road with moving cables.
Fascinating to watch boats get loaded on the only marine railway in North America and carried across the road and lowered downstream. Worth the stop.
