Love birdwatching there. Such a unique environment. Wonderful educational experiences for kids and adults. Just a fantastic place.

Pretty good discovery center with few trails around it. Preserve is quite large with over 3000 acres of land across several locations. Most of pitch pines are actually located near the center and are best accessed via blue trail. The soil is not as sandy along perimeter yellow trail, and oak trees are clearly winning over pines. It may have something to do with fire prevention (pitch pines rely on fires to thrive). There is some similarity with NJ Pine Barrens and LI Pine Barrens but it is quite superficial.

This was a perfect momentary escape from the grind. It's really cool to have a place that feels so vast in the middle of a city! The trails are really well maintained. The bathrooms are really nice and clean. Everything = A+

First time visitors at the Preserve. We head off the Karner Barrens trailhead and enjoyed the StoryWalk - "When will it be Spring?" We sure enjoyed ourselves reading the book out loud as we continued along the trail. A great place to get out and enjoy nature, peruse the gift shop at the Discovery Center, and the fake treats in the glass jar (Take One). This place is a hidden gem!

Lovely place to visit. Easy trails that are sandy in some areas. We saw the endangered Karner Blue and the lupines which support them. Great place for birdwatching too!

Lovely afternoon walk! Loads of birds. The Lupine is springing up everywhere and it looks absolutely spectacular. Very clean and tidy trail. Not very busy. Always a lovely adventure. I love that dogs are welcome!

Nice trails. One stretch is right next to the highway, whose noise completely ruins that part of the experience. Has a little elevation here and there but nothing kids couldn’t handle.
