Back to Wilderness

Had a great time on this NCFE Level 3 Axe and knife throwing instructor course, got all the tools I needed to set-up my own range. It is very thorough, covers all the bases and great value for money! Would highly recommend! Thanks Ray!

A great 2 days run by Back To Wilderness on our Level 3 Survival School Wilderness Skill Range Instructor NCFE Accredited custom qualification (aka Outdoor Axe and Knife Throwing Instructor) course - cant wait for 2025 when we will be introducing this as an activity.

Just wanted to message you to say thank you again for such an amazing weekend. We enjoyed it so much George (and me to be fair) haven’t stopped talking about it to anyone that will listen. The whole weekend from start to finish was so interesting and engaging, George cant normally sit still for more than 10 minutes without wandering off so to have his attention for the entire weekend says it all really. Between you and your guys the amount of knowledge you have blew my mind!! Every activity/lesson was not only well planned and executed but so interesting, it really has opened my mind. The location was perfect, it felt isolated enough to feel like we were in the middle of nowhere but easy to get to. The fact it was just us as a group was exactly how I wanted it to be. The food was amazing and the camp was perfect. Please say a big thank you to your guys again from us both. Hope to see you all soon for more learning.

Fantastic experience. My highlight of the year so far. Built a shelter to sleep in, knife/saw lesson (making tent pegs & a pot holder), made fire using a bow drill, prepped pigeon/rabbit/trout from scratch for our meals, made cordage out of nettle stems, went foraging, and learnt about water collecting/purification. All the instructors were great. Highly recommend.

We had a corporate day with these guys last week and got to say it was the best team building event we've ever done.
Ray and Matt were extremely knowledgeable, very patient and encouraging.
We learnt new skills: making fire without matches or lighter, getting clean water and building a shelter, an understanding of our surroundings and most importantly, given it was a team building exercise, we had to work together to accomplish the tasks.
Brilliant day, highly recommended for a family activity as well as corporate.

Ray, in collaberation with his staff Nathan & Matt, happily delivered one of their level 2 courses in an unfamiliar location, which posed some significant logistical challenges.

A lot of work was required to get this course over the line and all contact with the team was friendly and professional (even when extreme tiredness and cancelled ferries tested the patience of the crew!)

The course itself was excellent and moulded to the specific needs of the group and environmental constraints/oppurtunities.

I and my colleagues would recommend Back to Wilderness without hesitation and we are already excited to offer them back in the near future for more craic, learning and assessment.

This weekend we completed a level three wilderness instructors course with Ray and Back To Wilderness.

Ray was so professional, and safe and allowed each individual to learn in their own unique way all while having loads of fun, not even the cold weather could stop us!

Will definitely be booking up some more courses and sessions!
