The library itself is fine. The kiddo room is beautiful. They have a good selection of books and I have some good memories of going there when my child was a baby but I will say even all these years later one experience really still bothers me. I was in this wide open room with my son and another family was in there as well. Their kids were running around and so my kid joined in too. Harmless fun one would think. Then unfortunately one of the other family’s kids and my kid collided and my son was really really upset. It was nobody’s fault. The other parent goes out to get ice from the kitchen area and this worker comes in while I’m comforting my son and rudely remarks that “this is why we tell patrons not to run around in here,” in this almost gloating tone. I believe her name is Linda (older lady, short hair) a) no one ever said that to us nor did anyone come in to tell either family to stop - the kids were running around for a while before this happened and b) is this really the time to make such a statement while my son is crying and I’m holding him? I mean, I don’t think so. She never asked if he was ok or anything. No sympathy or empathy. The head librarian Mary-Lou also never asked if he was alright or anything on our way out. They just glared at us after as if we were some sort of imposition to them. My son was only about 2 or 3 years old. Then years later I’m at the book sale at the school to benefit the Pawlet Library and who do I run into? Linda and she says all friendly oh! I know you! And I’m like yeah, you do (but I’m guessing I actually remember how you treated us that day and maybe we you don’t).

Love this town !

The perfect small town library!!! There is something for everyone.
