I'm only writing this because i came very early 6am and there was a few carts infront of me, but somehow i ended up at the back of the line because people show up and go straight to the front of the line because their let in by their buddies.
Theres a guy who works here named Michael that was able to help me and see my frustration. He was very kind, professional, and understanding of the situation and he was able to help me out. We need more people like him. People that actually mske a difference and who are always willing to help.

They serve families and friends alike. Clients make it obvious they’re butting in front of others. Food scarcity makes people become ignorant of the challenges other people face.

Great people great service caring I would recommend it for anybody that needs it and if you can support them, please do so

On Sunday 25th of August at 12:09 pm I went to this food bank Fort York food bank and this is only my second time going here the first time I went is two years ago when I am experiencing financial difficulties and last Sunday was my second time but my first time experiencing the worst discrimination and disappointment ever encountered to this kind of institution I have been working and contributing to the city for more than 25 years and try my hardest to contribute to the community as much as possible as good Canadian but the staff who is in charge last Sunday is the worst human being I ever encouraged in this kind of institution I questioned what kind of people food bank assigned to help people in needs but instead she is discriminatory and judgmental she got upset with me for no reason and turned me away because I don’t look like a homeless person who needed help for food and groceries and went on my face harassed me for putting their number on my phone she is trying to grab my phone and insisted to take away their fort York food bank number on my phone . She is a sad lady and was very grumpy while I was talking to her explaining my situation. God bless her soul.

Subject: Serious Concerns About Krystal's/Conduct
Hey everyone,
I need to address something really important about our coordinator, Krystal, and I want to make sure everyone is aware of what's been going on. This is going to be public, so let’s be real about it.
I've been volunteering here with my daughter for quite a while now, and I've seen and heard enough about Krystal to know there's a big problem. She’s consistently disorganized, inconsiderate, and dismissive of volunteers' needs. A lot of volunteers have come to me with their concerns about how she operates, and it’s clear she’s not invested in this organization or the community we're trying to serve.
Today was the last straw for me. My daughter and I Ubered half an hour to get here, and Krystal disrespected us publicly and ignored everything we needed. This isn’t just a one-time thing—this is a pattern. I was planning to share a generous donation from my partner's company to help the food bank and offer properties for silent auctions, but I'm not doing that anymore because of Krystal.
This is not just my opinion; it's a widely known issue. Many volunteers have complained about her lack of professionalism and respect, but they’re often too intimidated to say anything because of her attitude. Some volunteers also rely on the food provided by the organization, and Krystal uses her position of authority to take advantage of that, treating them poorly because she knows they need the help.
I want to make it clear that I'm going to be following up on this. I'll be leaving Google reviews, writing letters to the organization, and contacting Julie and any other superiors. This needs to be known: what Krystal is doing is a disgrace to volunteering. We’re here to serve our community, and she’s making it personal and unbearable.
For any new volunteers or those planning to join us soon, be aware of how this organization is run and who they’ve chosen to lead. This food bank is ranked number three in all of Ontario or Toronto, and it's crucial that the leadership reflects the dedication and respect we all have for our community.
I also want to highlight that I’ve done this type of volunteering many times in the U.S. and abroad. I’ve not only donated but also offered properties as vacation rentals for auctions, which have worked amazingly well for my children's schools and to raise money in the communities I’ve lived in. I was more than willing to do the same here, but now I'm just so put off and disgusted. Everyone should be aware of what’s going on in this organization on the volunteer front. I've heard rumors about other issues, but this is very real and should be acknowledged and not ignored.
This is really hard for both myself and my daughter. There’s nothing we love more than the amazing, incredible volunteers who give their time and support on a weekly basis to show up for people in our community in need. I want to make sure they are given so much credit because they do this without pay, without acknowledgment, and with feverish dedication to the people around us. Yet, Krystal is pushing away the kindest and most considerate people in this community because of her own selfish actions.
Julie, I strongly disagree with keeping this private. I think it’s imperative that every volunteer is made very much aware of what’s going on in this organization. This is a volunteer-based program, not a private practice. That’s why I did this on a public forum. Just to be completely clear, Julie, this is not private; it’s public.
Attention, Julie and volunteers of this group: If anyone else has concerns about Krystal, I urge you to voice them to Julie. It's time we stand up for the respect and dedication we all deserve.
Thanks for listening.
Ashley
Hi Julie,
I wanted to clarify that I am a volunteer, not an employee. I do not work for you, and I am not concerned with your opinions, as my focus is solely on helping to feed homeless individuals and those who cannot afford to eat.
I am not interested in discussing politics. If you need any information about the operation

Namaste. Its been my third time at this location, what I enjoy the most is the kind volunteers at least on the days, I've been there. Most importantly, this location has at times vegan options. Which is very rare for food banks to have these items. Will return again and thanks for your support during these challenging times.

I recently visited the food bank with my neighbors, as I often do to help them due to their language barrier. However, this visit left me feeling disappointed and frustrated.
One of the most disheartening aspects of the visit was the way the volunteers (CHINESE & RED HAIR Woman) treated us. Instead of offering assistance and support, they seemed to judge us based on assumptions. For instance, they assumed that my neighbors and I were all from the same family rather than recognizing that we were neighbors trying to help each other.
This experience made me question why helping others should be met with such judgment. The purpose of a food bank is to provide assistance to those in need, regardless of their background or circumstances. It's crucial for volunteers to approach their work with empathy and understanding, rather than making assumptions about people's relationships or situations.
I hope that this feedback can be used constructively by the organizers of the food bank. Encouraging volunteers to adopt a more inclusive and empathetic approach could greatly improve the experiences of visitors and ensure that everyone feels welcome and supported.
Overall, my recent visit to the food bank was disappointing due to the judgmental attitude of the volunteers. I hope that steps will be taken to address these issues so that others do not have to experience the same frustrations.
