The Museum of Fine Arts is a true gem in the world of art and culture.
Upon entering, you're immediately struck by the seamless fusion of classic and contemporary elements. The grand atrium, with its soaring glass ceiling and elegant lighting, creates an inviting and awe-inspiring atmosphere. It's a testament to the importance of lighting design, a field closely related to electrical engineering, in enhancing the overall experience.
Moving through the museum's various galleries, you'll find the perfect harmony between the artworks and the architectural setting.

The museum has been in my top five highlights of my visit to Canada. I love visiting museums and exhibitions as I feel they help me learn something about the world, and I was not disappointed in any way by the current exhibitions that show Colombian tribal culture and cultures around the world from roman to first nations influence...this place is a cornucopia of endless fascination and delights.
Whither you appreciate pop art or classical art, the museum is for you, I couldn't recommend this place enough, and the few photos I managed to capture don't do it justice. It's spectacular.
I was extra honoured to see some scotrish works in the collection, and it might make me biased, but it made me feel like I was at home, so thank you to the curators.

One of the finest art museums in the world, it never fails to please and surprise me with its exhibits whether permanent or not.
There are 3 buildings, I was only able to do one (never had enough time!) and yet, everything on display was varied and had something for everyone.
The building itself (by Moshe Safdie) is already an architectural eye candy. There is no bad angle.
When in Montreal, this place is a “must visit” for art aficionados.

It is enormous. So I suggest you work out which parts will be of most interest so you can pace your visit. We stupidly walked past the museum map at the entrance, which is essential reading.
There is a nice bistro inside, which is a neat way to take a break between galleries. And the ticket is valid for the whole day, so you can go outside for a while to get some fresh air and/or something to eat or drink.
It seems bizarre to travel from Europe to see a Picasso or some Dutch masters, but they are well presented and well worth seeing.

An excellent museum in many ways, and worth a visit for sure..
One thing though; the museum actually asks you to write how to help preserve the planet in one of its exhibitions BUT yet, when you go to the café and ask for a milk that isn’t from a cow (the dairy / meat industry is a HUGE cause of environmental damage never mind being utterly cruel to its core) they tell you they don’t have any other than cows milk. Serving any of the wonderful sustainable alternatives for cows milk is so easy to do, and it would be fantastic to see the museum actually DO more to aid sustainability than just virtue signal it….

Loved the tour. Think guide was Mary who took us round through Flemish art. Very knowledgeable and kind. Leave time to stroll around a bit after. Food closes at 3 fyi. Eating late meant food wasn't too great. Very helpful staff.
As a jaded tourist who has been to the Met, the Louvre, every Smithsonian Museum, the Getty, etc, I was sure this was going to be a fine regional art museum. I was wrong. It was AMAZING! They have an excellent collection of modern art, but an even more excellent collection of Canadian art displayed by era. A complete art history through a Canadian lens. And the special exhibits were well curated and especially informative. Thoughtful presenatation indigenous artists. Inspiring! Delightful!
