Nice little airport with great places to shop and eat. However, if you’re an aviation geek, then you’d love the observation deck on a sunny day. It’s accessible even to visitors since it’s before the security check.
Fun easy access airport, we flew to Tokyo Haneda, so the terminal was easy through security. Was a Sunday not overly crowded. If you are hungry eat before security, as I only saw 1 restaurant and Tullys Coffee..

Reading through the past reviews, I was expecting a vast desert wasteland with absolutely nothing, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Whatever happened with the long check-in lines a few months ago was thankfully not the situation today. Both check-in and security were very quick, and there was plenty of staff for the amount of people traveling today.
I was flying out midday from the international terminal, so pretty much all shops were open except for one in a distant wing of the airport. Not much to do landside, but airside, there are a couple of eateries, a 7-Eleven, a Starbucks, and a variety of places to pick up souvenirs after the security checkpoint. There's even hiyoko manju and hakata torimon if you didn't get them elsewhere. Same as Royce potato chips and other nice things. Of course, I guess it all depends on when you're flying in/out, and whatever the closing times may be.
Went to the 7-Eleven and used a Mastercard to pay with no problem. There's a sign that says you can't combine cash & credit in one payment, but the card reader was quicker than out in the city. Granted, there's less variety, but the price for my bottle of green tea was the same as it is at other 7-Elevens (JPY 138).
It's a great mid-sized airport if you keep your expectations low. It doesn't have a sprawling layout and unnecessary designer goods, but at least it's got some food and some shopping! I've been to extremely small airports with nothing at all but chairs, so........

When I was leaving out of Fukuoka for my flight to Tokyo then on to the US. Their staff is very helpful making sure I got my bags checked in the correct location. They have staff roaming and checking on passengers flight times to make sure they get on their flights. The ANA airport staff escorted through to make sure we got to the correct gate so we wouldn't miss our connecting international flights.
We arrived the airport at 11:30am yesterday and standing waited at the customs line for 2 hours. There were packed with people, a few fans with no air conditioning. There were no priority lines for the elders and my mom is 78 years of age and went through a very bad experience. This is not a good first impression of this city for the traveller. Imagine some of them flying long hours from Europe or Americas and having to go through this. Wifi was not working so better screen shot the QR code in advance. The Chinese speaking guide help and Korean speaking guide help were all giving bad attitudes to people not heping much at all. I hope the airport will improve the service.
