The best kept secret in Washington DC! I have lived here for 30 years and somehow never heard of it or visited. The numerous tile mosaics are absolutely incredible with such brilliant colors-indoors and out. Beautiful gardens and wonderful craftanship, too. The entire complex invites contemplation and peace. You need not be particularly religious to enjoy the beauty of this place.

Words can't describe, definitely worth a visit, especially the simplicity and humility of the low entrance to the replica of the tomb of Jesus. Not all areas are open without a tourguide, but plenty can be seen without. The grounds and church are beautiful and tours are offered frequently. Go there today!

Peaceful and harmonic place.

What is God?
Love, truth, honesty, joy, goodwill, generosity ....
all the moral and descent qualities combined.

What is suffering?
All the opposite qualities of God.

When the cause is there, the consequence is about to come.

May All be happy, peaceful and liberated.

A great place to relax, meditate and pray. Its gardens are very pretty. There are benches to sit. It isn't crowded.

The closest you can get to the Holy Land and Roman Catacombs without going. Measured by Fransiscan monks to match pilgrim sites across Israel and Rome, this church models the history that is an ocean away. From the tomb of Jesus, the top of Calvary, to the depths below the Church. Embrace history and enjoy the depth of artistry involved to make such a beautiful place of worship.

Beautiful place to just go and walk through. They have free tours of their crypts. Donations are always helpful tho. Everyone working there was very nice

A beautiful church and gardens in Northern DC. If you have a chance to do their garden tour during the spring, summer, or fall, it's a beautiful experience. They have a variety of gardens, shrines, and grottos across the grounds, as well as a gift shop with religious goods and some local products. For the last several years my family has gone to the Christmas midnight mass which is a beautiful and solemn event. During the Christmas holidays, they are known for their extensive candle luminaries surrounding the main courtyard. A noteworthy site for both religious and architectural interests.
