A huge brick building that thankfully has not been plastered so it retains its originality. The ground outside are well maintained and there is very good information about how Christianity evolved over the years. Then of course there is the main church where the body of St Francis Xavier lies entombed.

Unlike Hindu architecture, there are no carvings on the walls but the massiveness of the structure is very impressive. Worth a visit!

A divine, holy place. An ancient Chapel, historical, the most visited place in Goa.There is a coffin containing the body of saint Francis Xavier, huge sprawling area. Some 400+ years old church. The exterior still maintains the original colour of the Basilica. I loved the place. Photography or videography is prohibited inside.

Today (20th October 2023) we visited "The Basilica of Bom Jesus is a truly awe-inspiring place of worship. The moment you step inside, you are transported to a world of profound spirituality and history.

Moreover, the stunning architecture, intricate artwork, and the solemn atmosphere make it a must-visit for anyone in Goa.

However, the highlight, of course, is the preserved body of St. Francis Xavier, a moment of deep reverence for the faithful. The church's preservation and the sense of history it exudes are truly remarkable. Whether you are a believer or a history enthusiast, this place will leave a lasting impression on you."

Located in Old goa. This Basilica has an amazing architecture and is spread on a large complex, also housing a museum. One of the most popular places to visit in Goa ... The architecture resembles to the Portuguese churches.

The Basilica of Bom Jesus is a Roman Catholic church located in old Goa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The church holds the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. This is one of the oldest churches in Goa and major attraction for the tourists. An attractive architecture with simple interior, main altar holds a large statue of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Taking picture is not allowed inside the church. A peaceful place to witness rich history.

Photography is not permitted inside the Basilica, it was a unique experience to visit this place after ages ... had visited with my parents many many years ago. This was the first Church we visited in Old Goa and I was really impressed by the unique and massive architecture of this Cathedral.
Peaceful. Amazing mass celebrated I English as well as Konkani! There's a feel about the place which is old and rooted in Faith and Culture. Can't ask for a better place to worship!
