Park was nice, but not what I expected from the photos.
I didn't realize it would be mostly a hike through the woods.
The photos showed a bridge, I found no bridge.
The photos showed animal hutches, I found no hutches.
The photos showed a stone made house, I found none.
Nice park for a hike in the woods, not what I expected.

A low-profile sanctuary in north-central Nassau County. One other car was in the lot at the time of our visit. The metasequia trees did not disappoint. Both a portapotty and real bathrooms are available. Mosquitoes are present in the wooded areas.

This good place to visit for anyone seeking tranquility. They're a lot trails to walk. Some beautiful trees to check out.

Relaxing trails, parking lot, dog friendly (on leash), and restrooms. It was my first time here, but definitely won't be my last.

This is an awesome spot to bring your family, particularly if you have kiddos. We had a blast at the playground, where they even have musical instruments to play with. We spotted a massive turtle at the pond, which got the little ones super hyped. It's a definite must-visit if you're in the area.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep/
but I have promises to keep/and miles to go before I sleep/and miles to go before I sleep. - - R. Frost

Places like this are a gift. It was a perfect day for a walk, with the temperature in the 50s the dappled afternoon sunlight, the ice in the ponds, and the trails carpeted with fallen leaves. The dawn redwoods are rare and impressive, and the lindens are massive.

There are 3 trails of varying length, a children's "habitat," a visitor's cottage, and educational plaques along the paths. Pets are allowed, but please pick up after them! There are numerous benches along the trails and many nice spots for a picnic.

Entrance was free and donations are encouraged. Members get parking spots reserved (no need today, the day before Thanksgiving) and other perks.
