Ate here many times and the food was great, but I asked the waiter for no egg and she came with the food with egg 30 minutes later. Anyway on the positive note I ate a Bife à Portuguesa which was fantastic, I do recommend but I think the service should be better.

it's a popular place and always have to queue at weekends. i booked in advance and got the seat secured. arrived on time and got directed to the seat straight away. we're placed at the corner near the fridge, a small table and dim, not a pleasant one. staff occasionally came and open the fridge but it smells.

we had an octopus salad, clams and baked cod fish. the octopus salad was disappointing. it wasn't fresh and too hard to chew. the clams was OK as well as the cod fish. just the cod fish was made far too oily. i was told it's very traditional portuguese food so expected the food are salty and oily. but it's way too much and we couldn't finish it.

overall the experience wasn't too good as we expected.

A nice place for casual dining if you like local Macau Portuguese food with a good selection of wine. Their stir-fried clams is a must try. The grilled sardines were delectable too. Suggest to call them to make a reservation in advance, as we went there on a Wednesday evening and it was almost a full house.

Delicious food!
We had octopus salad- fresh and well seasoned.
Spanish Paella- fresh and cooked to perfection.
Portuguese paella- based on tomatoes, different and more soupy. I prefer the Spanish one. But this one is yummy too.
Portuguese steak- good quality meat and well cooked. Even the potatoes are so delicious!
Waitress were all sweet and friendly. We had a really a time here. Thank you!

It serves some of the authentic Portuguese dishes that you don't easily find them in Macau. We ordered many plates from beef tripe with chickpeas to fried sardines to cod croquettes, and all of them were very good. It's a casual dinning and relatively minimal in decor and settings. The wait staff was very helpful and pleasant.

Finally being able to return to Macau after the city reopened recently to the outside world. One of my first meals was at A Petisqueria. This is a long standing favourite that opened up in 1993 and is today probably one of the best Portuguese restaurants in the city. They are located along Rua de S. João in Taipa Village and are open from 12-3.30pm (lunch) and 6.30-11.30pm (dinner), closed on Mondays.

This is a restaurant very much worth getting reservations on weekends and public holidays. Otherwise, it can be very difficult to be seated. During my recent visit, I had a late 2pm lunch during midweek and was able to do a walk-in seating. Service was friendly, polite and timely just like in the days before the pandemic.

Happy to report that the food served during this return meal was still high standard. On the occasion, I ordered Pastéis de Bacalhau (fried codfish balls) and Bacalhau de Bras (Portuguese home cooked dish with shredded codfish) both of which tasted very good and as expected. Prices lean towards the higher end of the spectrum at A Petisqueria but portion sizes are large and the food is really nice.

Very happy to see that A Petisqueria survived the pandemic and seems to have maintained the high quality food and standards experienced in the past. I look forward to my next meal here during future trips to Macau from Hong Kong.
