The staff here was really friendly, giving off that genuine New York City diner vibe. However, there were a few issues that made the experience less than ideal. First off, the utensils weren't clean, which was a bit disappointing. The orange juice had way too much pulp, almost as if they’d blended three whole oranges into it. The bacon wasn’t just chewy; it looked and felt like paper. Additionally, the waffle was surprisingly below average, not at all what I was expecting. To top it all off, the food really didn’t feel worth the $31.20 I paid, plus the extra $1.09 charge for using my credit card. This place has potential, but they really need to step up their game, especially when it comes to the quality of the food and cleanliness, to make the cost seem justified. - 10/27/23 (2:36 pm)

Very very kind it was open late. How very accessible bathrooms. And just amazing vibe all here. The food was nice and hot well put together. And the dessert was amazing!

Nice diner atmosphere. Waitress was very good. However, the pancakes were awful. They were so hard, you could break them in half like a biscuit. Never had such tough pancakes in my life. Never again!

I have been coming here for over 13 years and it never disappoints. Do yourself a favor and try the challa bread french toast. Make sure to bring a friend because there is no possible way you could eat it all yourself! Everything I have ordered from here as been excellent.

What has been probably a standard American spot for many will be quite unique for most travellers. This place has a period American diner charm that is not corrupted by the modern fakeries built to mimic the ages. The menu is extensive with a range of add-ons to choose from. We ate breakfast in two consecutive days with a bit of mixed experience. The service is interesting, on one day it was quite attentive and the other day friendly but abrupt and unpredictable. The portions are often huge but most items were delicious. Coffee is pretty good. Loads of locals. It is dog friendly which we loved. Overall a nice little spot, although tucked away is worth a visit if you are staying nearby.

Classic American diner which I visited today for late lunch after passing it a day earlier. I have reviewed the online feedback so came back today on the basis of the recommendations. Best decision ever. The gentlemen here are so welcoming. Fast, attentive but never overwhelming. I had three servers arranging my dining experience to be a meaningful one. Listening, caring (I dined alone, since I am here on a short break from Abu Dhabi) and making sure I dont feel alone - all wrapped in genuine, caring manner. The food was excellent: I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with well done fries and no salt. I have received my order exactly how I asked for. Well done Madison Restaurant, kitchen and restaurant team. You are a historic, highly recommended restaurant for obvious reasons. I shall return upon my next trip to the city. Thank you for making my day!

We were immediately seated during peak lunch hours on a Friday. Plenty of seating in the back on of the diner. We shared the hot pastrami lunch special ($23) between 2. The special came with coffee, a small soup (choice of Manhattan chowder, chicken and rice, lemon chicken, and tomato). We did not enjoy the Lemon Chicken and rice soup—it lacked a savory factor or creaminess. The sandwich was served on two plates which was very nice of them! Pastrami sandwich was AMAZIN’—The bread was both soft and had an exterior crunch, pastrami was well seasoned, and the melted Swiss cheese! They provided mustard on the side but didn’t even need it. The half serving of French fries were cooked to the perfect crunchy exterior, perfect saltiness too! It was complemented with some cold slaw, pickle, and pickled carrots. For the price point of less than $15 for lunch for 2 was pretty nice. I thought the service was equally wonderful with often coffee refills and courteous staff! The establishment prefers cash and adds a service fee for using credit cards.
