Duke Farms in New Jersey proved to be a captivating haven of natural beauty and historical significance during my weekday visit with my cousin. The Orchid Garden, a crown jewel within the estate, left us in awe with its exquisite collection of vibrant orchids from around the world. Strolling through the garden's lush pathways, we were enchanted by the diverse array of colors and fragrances that filled the air.

Duke Farms, a sprawling estate spread over 2,700 acres, has a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century. It was originally owned by James Buchanan Duke, a prominent tobacco and electric power magnate. Over the years, the estate underwent several transformations, evolving from a lavish mansion to a sustainable and ecological landscape that emphasizes conservation and education.

The Orchid Garden exemplifies Duke Farms' commitment to environmental stewardship and horticultural excellence. With its carefully curated orchid species and a dedication to sustainable practices, the garden is a tribute to the vision of its founder, Doris Duke, the last private owner of the estate.

Exploring Duke Farms offered a glimpse into the harmonious coexistence of history, conservation, and natural splendor. From the captivating Orchid Garden to the picturesque landscapes, the estate is a sanctuary that nurtures both the body and soul, leaving us with cherished memories of a day well-spent in communion with nature's marvels and the legacy of the Duke family.

My favorite place to go, you have to be a part of the official group in order to gain access, but once you start contributing to the community garden, it truly is spectacular

A fee less vendors probably because of the threat of rain. Super selection from the vendors who did show.

Less expensive. You can have an organic garden by yourself. With diversity of people, we can learn lot of new techniques and ways to grow , harvest and protect the field.
They will conduct organic courses for is to learn.
