VFS claimed my visa will be done in 15 days, after a month passed I decided to withdraw my passport as I was travelling elsewhere as the embassy told me its gonna be 45 days, on the 30th day. The day I sent the email for withdrawal they approved my visa. I applied during peak summer - yes. I could've applied earlier? yes. VFS misled me by saying it will take 15 day maximum. The embassy gave me accurate information and processed accordingly. Not giving 5 stars as they chose to partner with VFS who gave me fake information on which I acted upon. I applied for the Iceland visa from Toronto btw.

Despite the bad review's, we had a very fair experience with the consulate. We applied from Toronto for Schengen visa and even though it was said 15 days generally for the process , it has mentioned somewhere in website it will take 30 - 45 days for the visa. We applied 2 months before our trip and our visa was processed in a month. We just got our passport back from Danish embassy Ottawa 2 days after the visa is processed from New York.
So just an advice for people who read the reviews, there are options to apply 6 months ahead of your trip. Plan and prepare your documents very well before applying. You definitely gonna get visa approved within 5 weeks. Also, keep in mind that to get appointment in VFS you need to act very early.

We applied for our visa through the VFS office in Toronto. After three weeks of submission, I unexpectedly received a phone call from the embassy at 9:20 pm while driving home. Initially, I was skeptical, as receiving a call at such a late hour seemed unusual. The time difference between Toronto and New York also meant it was late there as well. Nevertheless, I decided to answer the call. The officer inquired about the purpose of my trip, to which I explained my passion for immersing myself in a city's culture rather than being a typical tourist. I expressed my desire to spend a week in Copenhagen, highlighting my connection to the city through fond memories of celebrating New Year's Eve there in 2014, alongside my time studying in Lund, Sweden for a year. Despite providing this explanation, the officer continued to question my intentions for the trip. After about five minutes of conversation, she finally asked the quetion which is the real purpose of the call: why I have cancelled the hotels. I told her that I had mistakenly believed it was acceptable to choose a different hotel or Airbnb from the ones initially listed on my application. However, it became apparent that this was not the case. I asked if I should rebook a hotel to demonstrate the purpose of my travel or even to book something non-refundable, but she assured me there was no need and hang up :) 👍🤣 lesson learned : keep all the hotel bookings and don’t change!

Didn't have much expectation based on the negative reviews, but to be fair, they were actually helpful through my email interactions. I guess the most important thing is, DO NOT book anything non-refundable before getting your visa.

Processing time for a Schengen visa now (Oct 2022) is 50 calendar days, which is well beyond their typical 15-day benchmark and even past the 45-day benchmark for “complex cases”. This is highly unacceptable, especially for a non-peak season.

This consulate accepts applications on behalf of all Canadian residents visiting Denmark and Iceland, and all US residents visiting Denmark. Yet, according to their employees, they’re only able to process 10-20 applications per day. How they’re able to function with such few staff is beyond me.

Unlike other reviewers, I had a good experience with the employees. They kept me apprised via email and phone about where my application ranked in the queue and the anticipated date they would process my visa. Even though I had to cancel my initial plans, the employees were nice enough to accept bookings for a future holiday plan - so at least my application fee didn’t go to waste.

I applied for a Schengen visa over a month and a half ago. I just received my documents today. I had to reschedule my tickets and hotel reservations, I lost a lot of money. However, the consulate told me that I could still send additional documents with information about new tickets and new reservations, so that they would still consider my case after a month and a half (because the dates for which I requested the visa had already expired while they were holding my documents). I attached all the documents and wrote a long letter explaining why I needed to visit Denmark. I am a resident of the United States, I have a full-time job, I attached all the documents they requested. All of my documents were in order. Today I was denied for "justification for the purpose and conditions for the intended stay was not provided".
I had hotel reservations for the entire time I was in Denmark, I just wanted to see my husband. We are trying to get him a Green Card to the states and the immigration process takes over two years. Until then, he can't enter the country and I can't leave the country because I need to work and maintain my immigration status.
Now I have lost all the money I was saving for a vacation, the opportunity to see the person I love, and my faith in humanity. Thank you for ruining my life, because I have a Russian passport and I have to beg you to let me go to a place where the whole developed world can go without any effort. I will never go to Denmark. For Europe, I am a second-class person by birthright. I see no reason why my application could be rejected, other than the fact of my nationality, especially knowing how Europe treats Russian cases now. I was fighting against Putin, but he doesn't seem to be the only fascist here.

My wife applied for a Schengen visa a month and half ago and they were sitting on the application for that long. We have applied many visa in the past but this has been the most draining and frustrating visa application process in our entire life! Our application had passed the two previous dates that we wanted to travel. After a month we had to resend our third new dates and also have to make adjustments buying all itinerary for the third time because of their incompetency . The staff we communicated were not helpful at all. They would care less how hard you have been through to arrange time off from work. We waited patiently for the 10 days wait time that they have communicated to us during our first contact. We did not hear back from them and contacted back via email repeatedly. This is not professional from their end. We then contacted through phone call rather than emails and talked to one of the staff. We found out she was very slow and took her time to make the decision on our application. We sent all our updated documents and when we contacted for an update, another staff said it doesn’t hurt to send our documents again! I mean seriously???? Today is one month and 15 days and we are still waiting to get our passport back. At this point we just want our passport back regardless of the visa decision. We would not recommend visa applicants to apply at this Consulate. The whole process has been a nightmare!
