Xerta Restaurant

The people running the front of the front of the restaurant outdid themselves. They squeezed me in (I should have made a reservation, that's my mistake). As far as a Michelin star, small plates - you can expect it to be pricey, and the food will be on the advant guard, more uncommon flavors or exotic ingredients. Price wise, it wasn't inexpensive but it is an experience. Some of the things I liked was the spinach and anchovy macaroon. The bean, prawn, and roe(?) Dish was good too. The rice was alright, the presentation of the dinner was a little odd. The rice in particular was wheeled out on a home made cart out of 2x3, with a little barbie sized house. Maybe the explanation behind it works out better in Spanish.

The breakfast the day was fantastic. Lots of cold meats, some pastries, kale juice, sausages and options for omlettes. They left the little barbie house unguarded out during breakfast so I took a photo. The plating of the breakfast is me making a pile of stuff, the dinner plating was well done.

We had a wonderful meal at xerta. The venue was pristine, with nice lighting and interior decoration.

We had the a la carte menu and started the meal with some lovely bread (you can choose from white bread, seed bread or nut bread) and olive oil. Then came the amuses bouches; my personal favourites were the spoon with octopus on it, and the spinach macaron. There were a multitude of flavours in the amuses bouches and it was a great start to the meal. Having only eaten at these kinds of restaurants a couple of times, I didn't realise that you get amuses bouches even if you don't get the tasting menu, so that was a nice surprise.

Alongside the amuses bouches the waiter gave us a brief backstory of the restaurant since its inception. Throughout the meal the staff were all friendly, with the waiter even cracking a couple of jokes. The only thing that I would have said could be improved with the service is that we had to wait quite a while for our dessert to arrive.

The duck and rice starter was very tasty, hearty and I enjoyed it; however once I had tasted the smoked eel ravioli which my girlfriend had, I was quite jealous and wished I had ordered it.

The wild boar main course was again very nice and had great flavours, but if you have it then don't get carried away with eating the cocoa soil as it is a bit overpowering. The seabass catch of the day was nice but probably not as good as the other dishes we had.

The delta trail dessert was a mixed bag; the chocolate and apricot mousses were great, the triangular white thing (I think some kind of cheesecake) was also good. The biscuit and the honey foam were less good.

We then had a surprise, as it was my birthday they brought out a little birthday cheesecake; it was very creamy and had some nice tangy fruit coulis on top.

The last thing we ate were the petit fours; the chocolate macaron was really nice, the other sweet was okay.

One thing I would say about all of the food was that it was immaculately presented, probably the best out of any restaurant I've ever been to.

Overall I would definitely recommend xerta.

We went for dinner and ordered the biggest taste menu on the list. All I can say is that it was once in a lifetime experience. We knew we are going to a Michelin star restaurant and our expectations were high, but the reality was even better. The food, service and atmosphere were simply outstanding and nothing we have experienced before.

Note: if you want to order the biggest taste menu, make sure you go in very very hungry. Even though the portions are relatively small, there are so many of them that you will have a really hard time finishing off everything!

Unfortunately our plane was almost 2 hours delayed, and we had to jump into a taxi to rush here and just be "a little late"
But entering here, one felt calmed and instantly in a good mood.
I really liked the vibe here.
Food was simple, but very well-made and delicious.
One thing I have to mention though are the sizes! So much waste and I felt so bad, that I couldn't come near to finish.
But all in all a wonderful experience to have lunch here. And I will come back and maybe bring my husband with a large appetite. ;-)

This restaurant was part of the hotel I was staying at with my girlfriend. As soon as we checked in, we went to reserve a table. I was totally impressed with the service and the food we were getting on the table. The combination of service and food made this restaurant an absolutely wonderful experience. Next time I visit Barcelona, I will definitely be back 🙂

Best michelin restaurant ever! Just went here yesterday and right when we got there we got a really good complimentary drink. My whole family ordered the tasting menu & all the dishes were really good and creative! Its like nothing we’ve ever had before. A wine specialist helped us pick a wine & we got a bottle of it. It was very good wine & we appreciated the help we got from her. The service was great, everyone was so nice and very attentive. Our server was funny making the night even better. I definitely recommend if you want an experience like never before.

Outstanding lunch at this *Michelin retaurant. Five servings filled with good stories and plenty of flavors. Everything focused around the delta south of Barcelona, where the chef comes from.
I think the tuna serving is my all time favorite tuna.
Really nice and broad wine list, pick some of the local wines and forget about the few "international" bottles in there.
Good tip is to go for lunch, where they offer a good deal.
