Today was not the best aside from not being able to handling what I needed. What really annoyed me was Fatima Gomes!!!! Rude Obnoxious and Arrogant

Absolutely horrible experience. Came to newark today to specifically come here. Online clearly states that they close at 3PM. Why did I just get denied help before 1:30 PM ??? Why is there someone sitting inside stating they are closed???? Can someone explain this to me? HUGE INCONVENIENCE FOR ME. and they won’t even answer the phone!!!! What kind of business is this?? If you’re locking your doors and not accepting anyone to come in past a certain hour THEN STATE THAT YOU CLOSE EARLIER THAN 3 PM. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.

I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with the consulate's service, and I must say it was an absolute nightmare. I've been attempting to reach them by phone for the past few days, only to be met with the frustrating sound of ringing that never seems to end. And just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, the call suddenly drops, after being the only person on the call leaving me feeling utterly helpless.

To make matters even more infuriating, I've sent multiple emails to the consulate and it's as if my messages have vanished into thin air. Not a single response, not even an automated one to acknowledge receipt. It's almost impressive how they manage to achieve such an impressive level of radio silence.

This has undoubtedly been one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever encountered. The complete lack of communication, the endless waiting on hold, and the unresponsiveness to emails make me question how this consulate operates. If they can't even manage to pick up a phone or reply to an email, it leaves me wondering if they're even capable of handling more complex matters.

In short, the consulate's service is an absolute disaster.

This is the worst consulate there's no availability for apts since covid and nobody ever picks up the phone! Good luck if you have an emergency situation. I've been trying to make an appointment for passport and cartao de cicadao since before covid and nothing so far is now 2023. I got no reply to emails or does anyone pick up the phone ever. My father passed away 4 years ago in portugal and I've been trying to go back my country to take care of my dad's stuff and I'm unable to do it because I can't get my Portuguese documents since there's no help from my own country consulate and the lack of available appointments or costumer service! Ridiculous!!!

I would give them a negative 5 if possible. They have no intention of answering the phone, but they are ok with wasting your time in voice mail hell only to find out you have been hung up on. We have decided to travel to Montenegro insted because of this experience.

The office people are amazing. At the point when we try to book our appointment for visa, there is no spot that can accommodate our urgent need. We emailed and they replied with options that can allow us to go on time. Especially thanks to Christina and Sila! The application process is also smooth.

If I could, would give this service 0 stars. Where to start …
1. They don’t answer their phone. I was waiting for 30+ minutes when wait should have been 20 and then call dropped (convenient)
2. Good luck booking and appointment. Slightly better than it was a few years ago but I was online at 8am on the 1st business day to book an appointment and the calendar wasn’t open yet. Tried a few times and when the calendar finally displayed (around 9:30), I was shown only 1 available day with 4 time slots.
3. Can’t make your appointment, we’ll guess what, you can’t cancel it so nothing opens up for anyone else to take it.

Overall very frustrating. Have better luck flying to Portugal and renewing documents there!!!
