Countdown The Valley is a pretty good supermarket, great when compared to other Countdowns. It's pretty large so there is lots of variety of products. The produce is usually nice and fresh, not quite what you would get at a New World, but still good. There is plenty of parking outside and wheelchair accessible entry, etc.

terrible customer service😡
I visited on Sunday, September 24th, around 5:30 pm. There was only one male cashier at that time. When I made my purchase, he asked me if I wanted a bag, to which I replied that I would put the items in my trolley. After I paid, he threw my receipt at me without saying anything, which was very rude and shocking. When I asked him to dispose of the receipt, he even used offensive language towards me.
How did he do like that?
I was disappointed at the countdown to hiring such an employee and I will never shop there again.

Personally it's a bit too big for me. (We usually do our day to day shopping with a smaller supermarket run by the opposition a few blocks down the road from where we live!) But we do buy here and the service is always quick; just march up to the self serve machine and we're gone! One thing. Late in the afternoon there are often 'holes ' on some shelves. Like the toilet paper etc. Maybe they stock only early or very late.

Gosh every week prices of something goes up. It won't be only Countdown though. I'm a bit shocked at how much the staples cost on our once a week visit, and I use a list. Staff are always helpful. Last week pointing out a fresh fish special. This week helping me find a product. I hope they save the butchers jobs. I read there is a change coming.

In the store today. Bought a hot chicken. What's going on there, no more heatproof/leakproof bags. Told by a staff member that's how it is now and they are not allowed to help customers with any bags. Checkout lady also said yes, they do leak, not good for health and safety hot chicken in a normal bag.
Bad customer service...

Extensive range of products and the veges were fresh. However, take your own produce bags because none are supplied a real gotcha if you are new to town

This is our regular supermarket, mostly because of the good online shopping service. We also appreciate the great bike parking! Plenty of racks, plenty of space between them, well situated, and I think there are security cameras too 👍🏻👍🏻
