I don't understand why the bus terminal has to be so far from the airport terminal but there are free shuttle buses and from here you can find lots of cheap connections to lots of places in Thailand.
Look out for the free shuttle from the airport when you get out of floor 3 and take a local bus from the bus terminal to the city. Much cheaper!
