First of all don't think because you buy timed tickets it will benefit you. It won't. Secondly, I have been to some amazing museums around the world but this was disorganised, underwhelming and just not fun. Staff were the least friendly of all museums which is funny because I found it the least impressive. No photos can be taken so you can't save any memories therefore.... as soon as you leave you pretty much forget what you saw. Not as much a museum as a.... hyperbolic gallery for rooms.... and rooms... and rooms.

Plan on spending the entire day in this museum. Amazing collection of artwork in every room. I would recommend checking off each room on the map as you meander through all three floors of exhibits so you don’t miss anything. Photography is not aloud inside but there are plenty of books available in the store full of brilliant color pictures with descriptions and history.

One of the biggest museums of art I saw.
Take your time if you enjoy paintings, because there are a lot, and I mean a lot, of them!
I recommend it. Its free at the last 2 hours of the day, but prepare yourself to wait.

Beautifully laid out museum with so much to see. We were surprised to stumble upon a Picasso out of nowhere. Remember: you are NOT allowed to take photos of the artwork.

Also, they were running a combo deal: 24€ for general admission and a Prado book. It was a great buy! General admission is normally 15€ and the book retailed at the gift shop for 24€ alone.

I think i must have been super lucky as I walked in with no queue which was about 3pm but when I walked out the queue to get in was very long.. I took the audio guide option but they do free guided tours so perhaps research what times these are on before you go.. I think it would be more interesting to have a guide to put everything into context. Photos not allowed inside which of course is a shame but there are lots of great paintings , many of them on religious themes ..

The museum is fantastic. We didn’t take a lot of photos inside - the ones online are much better anyway - but it’s worth the time. Tip: allow PLENTY of time if you want to see it all. We spent three hours and didn’t even see half of it. Lovely place.
