I cannot speak highly enough of the doctors I have seen at the Grain clinic. In 20 odd years seeking services for chronic health conditions this is the best medical treatment I have encountered by a mile, whether we are talking conventional western medicine or naturopathic medicine. Even the referrals they have given to specialists outside the clinic have been to top notch providers.

Dr. KC has gone above and beyond in working with me. Her medical wisdom and her empathetic, patient-focused, wholistic approach is a wonder to behold after decades of frustration with an endless series of inconclusive tests and doctors who have more often than not failed to take my health situation and my needs seriously.

At Grain I feel heard and respected by an attentive professional who has been able to finally give me some meaningful answers. We have agreed upon a treatment plan that gets at the root of my problems, and that is supported by peer-reviewed science. This is unprecedented in my experience navigating the healthcare system as a patient with needs that are serious but difficult to address.

On a related note, Oregon House Bill HB 2555 -- requiring insurers to reimburse naturopathic doctors when they give the same level of care as regular physicians -- is currently stuck in committee. If you feel so inclined, write or call your local state rep to let them know you support this bill! The gatekeeping must end now.

Dr. Sara Kate- Chinoy was communicative and apologetic about running behind. Her demeanor was kind and showed genuine care about my health. She is both knowledgeable about her practice and humble enough to research further to verify her diagnosis.
I had a much different experience with Dr. Ashly Benson. She too was running behind, with who I am unsure because I was the only patient in the office. But she also failed to communicate that she would be late to start the appointment, and showed no care when I expressed that it greatly impeded the rest of my agenda. No apology, but instead asked me with a kind of pompous air if I was ok. Also, instead of reading through the notes that were already taken by Dr. Sara Kate-Chinoy about my traumas, she asked me to go through them yet again. When I asked her if she would look at the notes already taken she seemed annoyed at the request, saying that she needed to click on a different page. How is that difficult? What is the point of an hour long intake on our worst experiences if that tender information is not utilized by the other doctors in the office? The cranial sacral work and the after treatment check-in also carried with it this kind of energy that really was the opposite of helpful. I left not feeling better, but worse in a way.

I've been through the ringer in the medical industrial complex for four decades and had given up many times over, figuring that it was easier to suffer in peace than to attempt to explain my problems to yet another person with a medical degree who would tell me that there was nothing they could do for me. But through a referral from a specialist, I ended up in the waiting room at Grain. After my previous experiences, all I had to lose were a few more hours of my life. The doctors at Grain are the smartest and most empathic that I've encountered anywhere. And this isn't in isolation either; I see multiple doctors for multiple problems and each of them have core strengths and competencies which are fully utilized to masterful effect because of how effectively Grain is managed. Bedside manner is also a consideration. Doctors are friendly and thoughtful about what and how they are communicating. They are perceptive; picking up on microcommunications and able to hear concerns and feedback. My doctors have also effectively advocated for me when I've had to have appointments with specialists offsite. My favorite was "if they are not being helpful, call me right away." Becoming a patient at Grain has effectively flipped my narrative on my experience in the Medical Industrial Complex and I couldn't be happier.

If you want to be ignored and mistreated, see any doctor here. All of my experiences here have been bad. I've been going here since 2017 and have been passed around to 4 different doctors. The most recent one being Dana Mockenhaupt, who is one of the worst I've seen. Not only did she completely ignore my requests to get specific imaging, when I finally went to the ER and got the RIGHT imaging done, she didn't follow up with me for weeks. The results are very concerning to me, yet all my emails were ignored. I got one voicemail but I had told them I wanted email communications only.

Not only is Dana Mockenhaupt fake and inauthentic, she lacks compassion for people who have past physical trauma, and seems inexperienced. She told me I could trust her and that she understood my C-PTSD from medical scares and mistreatment, and then went on to abandon me in my time of need.

She refused to prescribe me medications that I know help, and instead made me try an SNRI that I've ever had before. I had a really bad reaction and she refused to acknowledge her mistake or rectify the situation in any way.

She also seems to have zero experience with endometriosis, even though it's very common. She had the audacity to tell me that my chronic pain isn't caused by endometriosis, even though I know it is. She refused to also acknowledge the mind/body connection, when I told her I felt my past trauma had negatively impacted my health.

As far as I'm concerned this entire practice should be closed. It's no wonder that two of my past doctors from there, and my acupuncturist, all left Grain.

Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else but here. They are rude, pretentious, condescending, belittling, and the stress from your experiences will just make your health even worse.

I have seen multiple providers at this location, they are a very professional, compassionate group. The office staff is very kind and helpful as well! It also helps they accept my insurance! My health needs were met at every visit and I really felt like I was listened to. Would highly recommend this clinic if you’re looking for a new provider!

I saw Dr. Kates-Chinoy twice, and each time was "prescribed" $150-200 worth of supplements. She did not discuss the costs with me until I was presented my bill at the front desk. I did not feel that she genuinely wanted to understand my health concerns, but that she simply wanted to give me supplements that related to my presenting problems.

For example: She gave me supplements for my irregular periods and told me that my hormones needed to be "reset." I saw a gynecologist after that, who told me that irregular periods were TOTALLY NORMAL for the birth control I'm on and nothing to worry about.

I honestly left with the impression that Grain Integrative Health is a scam that pushes expensive supplements on patients.
