Holmes Place

I just came here to say what everyone else already said.

This place isnt worth the money. And it’s a lot of money.

Why?

The equipment is super old and falling apart.

The staff is borderline rude. From front desk to the trainers.

The vibe is nonexistent.

Dont even join for the pool.

There are a lot of other gyms in the area, even gyms owned by families and not these companies that look at you as a number.

Bonus: Kendrick Lamar worked out here during his stay for Primavera festival. Not one person knew who he was. Thats the kind of place this is.

Dont come here.

Strongly advise you NOT to go to this gym. Their contracts are tricky. I purchased 3 months package and later found out that they have charged me for the 4th month. When I reached out to client service asking for a refund, they told me they can’t do anything. Moreover, they will charge me for the 5th month because if I wanted to end the contract I needed to notify them 1 month before! Ridiculous. To remind you: I purchased THREE months package.

Generally it is not a great gym, definitely not premium and doesn’t worth c.95 eur. The equipment is old and rusty. Some machines are always busy, it’s impossible to work out.

My “favorite” thing about this gym is lack of air conditioning. During the hottest month it wasn’t functioning at all. Now it works, but still poorly, eg in a group class room the temperature is 26 C, it’s very humid and smells terrible.

The staff is nice and attentive tho.

The changing rooms lack proper ventilation, making them uncomfortably humid. The gym has been without ventilation for over three months, and the sauna remained non-functional throughout the summer. The class-rooms have slippery floors, hindering correct exercise execution. The showers are difficult to control, providing only cold water.

Despite reaching out to the manager and the complaint team, they offered no help or understanding. While they promote “two months free”, it seems they cut costs by neglecting AC, sauna, and hot water issues. It's hard to believe this gym qualifies as "premium." I definitely not recommend to pay 90euro/m for this gym.

A notable positive aspect is the amiable and friendly staff! It appears that the issues lie within the realm of management…

I would recommend Holmes Place Balmes to anyone in Barcelona looking for a high quality, friendly gym home. The facilities are spacious and practical. It’s a premium feel without being pretentious: everyone here comes to work out and improve themselves, not to be seen or to pose. Unlike other gyms I have used, facilities are never crowded. The equipment provides a perfect balance for those who want to challenge their bodies using technology, and those who want to use their own body as a machine.

If I could take off half a point, it would be because I wish the cafe was back and that the air conditioning was stronger.

I would like to mention VICTOR GOMEZ in particular for being a standout personal trainer and the reason I came to love the gym again after more than a year without guided training. Victor’s expertise, encouragement, and sense of humour have helped me regain my strength, fitness, and form after a long time off. I am so grateful to him for all of his time, support, and skill. You’re the best, Victaaaaahhh!

Finally, thanks to Dani, Augustina, and others at the Holmes Place Balmes team who always make me feel like a friend, and not a customer. See you guys tomorrow!

It's pretty important for me to write this review after being subscribed to this club for more than 4 years. It's a huge shame to see the deterioration of the place, both in terms of the staff - with constant changes and many good employees being fired for no reason - and the facility itself, which is quite outdated and poorly equipped.

After being a member of this club for 4 years, it's disappointing to witness the decline in both staff quality and the condition of the club's facilities. The gym equipment is outdated compared to cheaper gyms with better technology. What's even more concerning is how the director seems more focused on micromanaging employees than maintaining the gym's reputation as a Holmes Place. This is by far the worst Holmes Place experience I've had. What a shame!

The staff is friendly and helpful, but some improvements are needed. Equipment variety is limited, especially in the free weight area. Some machines are old and need updating. The broken air conditioning since summer and showers' odor need attention. Membership fees are high, and the gym gets crowded quickly, especially during peak hours. Adjustments could enhance the overall experience.

An expensive fitness club with outdated equipment and a lack of natural light. The club needs a renovation and equipment update. Good location and friendly staff, however, the current pricing cannot be justified.
