Armand Bayou Nature Center provides some excellent classes - my 10 year old granddaughter does a different class each week learning about all the creatures in the area. Oftentimes there is associated art work projects. She just loves her instructor Miss Lilly.

Truly a well hidden gem 😍😍😍 Spectacular views and plenty of wild life to watch/look for .
Armand Bayou is an amazing place to take a nice nature walk and have fun! There are day camps for your kids to go to if you have work. There are really nice directors and staff. The animals are so amazing and I always have a great time when I go. It’s really easy to make friends here because everyone is so kind even if you aren’t there for too long. I would recommend if you are the outdoorsy type, but definitely bring bug spray.

Small park. Closes before sunset. Small parking lot. Not much walking, you can walk the entire area in about a mile.

Little bit of beach and good place to fish.
In Texas for a work trip. Wanted a nice place to enjoy nature while I was here. First time I went, I didn't stay long due to the mosquitos, but in the 45 minutes I stayed, I saw lots of herons. Went back a week later with bug spray and walked along the trails without having to deal with mosquitos. A few trees were blocking the path, but it was easy to go around them. Not as much wildlife the second time, but still enjoyed my time in nature.

This is a hidden gem. Short easy walking trails did not have time to explore all of it but will be definitely going back
Excellent. For a small fee, you gain entry for the day. There is so much to take in and look at. It is so beautiful.

Pro tip, take insect repellent and apply generously and often.
The Sunset tour of Armand Bayou was informative. We saw a fewer birds than I was expecting and more alligators. It was overcast, so there was no beautiful sunset. Overall, it was great tour and will probably do it again in the future.

I would right this as a 5 star review but wont for one reason. I do mountain biking and the mountain biking trails (1-10) are amazing for the area, I ride my bike to it from my house. The problem i have is trail 11-12, you have to cross the street to get to it so I assume people don't go on it often so that's why it is so bad, the trails are unmarked past the entrance so if you get turned around do to debris you will get lost, i had to bunny hop over tones of trees that had fallen, trail 11 is good but trail 12 is unmaintained and after a certain point just stops and is overgrown by prickers.
If you are planning to go to Wineburg go %100 but just stay off of trail 11&12 for your own sanity.

This is one of the better Sunset spots around the area. I definitely recommend venturing here. The area is secluded and peaceful, however it could somewhat creepy of a walk in the dark. Take a friend if you’ll be staying after sunset. The recommended parking is slightly before where Maps takes you. It’s a narrow pull off on the main road and is a short walk down an abandoned street. Note, during our visit, the road there had a staggering amount of widow makers, so keep an eye out for falling branches. The park area includes a mowed grass hill that homes many larger trees, and steps down right to the Patapsco River. The highlight of this site comes from the marsh/beach area that serves as a small inlet into a wildlife preservation area. I won’t spoil too much more.
Very calm place to launch sup or kayak. Its not in park so after pay at checkpoint you turn around and drive across street. Its a longer way to launch from parking lot then would like so take kayak wheels if you have them.
I did the Sunrise pontoon boat tour of Armand Bayou. Watching the sunrise over the calm waters of the bayou was incredible. We can a variety of shore birds and a few gators.
The cost of the tour included visiting the nature center. Definitely worth it.

This is a great place to launch a kayak. Once you are on the water, there is a lot to explore. From Beachwood Park Dobbins Island is a five mile paddle. If you check online, there is a map that shows all of the hidden gems along the way. Just look up Magothy River Water Trail. There are a couple of things to keep in mind, however. The water is about 100 yards from the parking area, down a hill on a dirt trail. So, a kayak cart may be needed. The hill isn't too horrible, but it is a bit of a walk. Depending on when you go, there can be an abundance of boat traffic. Especially out on the main river. The upper portion where you launch is really nice. There is boat traffic. However, the speed limit is low. When you paddle here, you are not going to be in the wilderness. There are lots of houses and piers, and docked boats. But this does not take away from the joy of paddling this area.
I visited the nature center this weekend with my family and could not have asked for a more perfect day! The nature center is beautiful, well-loved, and filled with the kindest and knowledgeable volunteers. Hilary in the garden was wonderful, showing my niece, myself and my dad all of the plants, letting us taste different herbs, and giving us recommendations on growing them ourselves. There was a gentleman in the greenhouse who was so passionate about telling us some of the history and about the planting efforts and restoration efforts of the park. The blacksmith was also so willing to share his work with us and tell us about the project he was working as a partnership with an art project at NASA (I believe that’s what he said).

I wish I lived closer to here and I’d volunteer myself if not only to be a part of the community. It was really inspiring and what the world needs more of.

We will definitely be back for the safari rides and workshops that are hosted here. It’s such a special place that I will be recommending to anyone in the greater Houston area. Thank you for having us!

Only me and my family there today. Mid 60’s . Warm weather. First time here. Cool hill to the beach and only couple parking spot by the road. Over look out of the bay. I saw Key bridge…..Beautiful blue sky and summer time with boats at nearby beaches.
Houston never ceases to surprise me with the sheer amount of green spaces to get lost in. Armand Bayou Nature Center was an amazing escape from the stresses of city living.

Though it seemed that quite a few people were visiting, I was able to walk a 1.38 mile trail completely alone - passing no other humans - and it enabled me to get utterly lost in the beauty of this place.

The upkeep and care of the animals was exceptional. As I was walking through the beautiful forest, I was able to see so many animals living in a natural & free way, which is such a humbling opportunity.

I will go again and again. I came alone, near the opening time on a Friday, and it was a perfect experience.

This place is so beautiful that I'd like to keep it hidden! So ... don't go! LoL

A nice place for a quick hike and a relaxing place to decompress while overlooking the Magothy River.

I love this spot. Usually very few people. About a 10 minute walk. Wonderful place to find sea glass. My only complaint is the trash. I think it washes up from the bay. I always take a garbage bag to pick up along the beach. Filled two last time. I'm not sure I would swim there for that reason... Fort Smallwood is better for wading. This is perfect for relaxing natural beach experience.

It's good with the understanding it's a quick attempt to provide more water access in AACO. The main trail straight to the water down the steps has A LOT of broken glass. We went to kayak it was a terrible put in. The better put in is after the 3rd parking area. The signage in the main area could be better. If you're kayaking look for the sign further down the road with about 100 yards of moderate hill to the water.

When me and my dad arrived, it wasn't clear if there was parking or not. We park the car and we go in with my ferret to let her explore and have fun like always. We go to the beach and already we didn't know how to get down. There was a hill we had to end up sliding down and we were covered in sand and dirt. So, we get in the water a little bit and let the ferret explore the water and play. But the next day or two, I end up getting sand fleas really bad and had to go to the doctor. We think it was caused by the beach.

I don't recommend this place if you have pets or is sensitive. This place really is something.

Small, wooded park with multiple walking paths, all leading to a beautiful river. Great place for an amateur hiker like myself. I will definitely return to sit by the water. Bonus, best kept port o potty I've seen in my whole life.

Such a nice, quiet place for fishing. Catches a beautiful breeze as well as has sunshine and shade. The bathroom is clean too, a big plus:)

It's alright. Buncha trashy anglers. Nobody thatvgoes there know how to park. 5 minute walk with a kayak to get to waters edge.
