This a good place to go they have a skate park a soccer field also a fishing pond
Such a nice big park. Lots of programmed events. We went for the fishing clinic.
Fairly new park, easy to get to and fro my place of residence and dog friendly with a park of their own to hang out with other doggy dogs! Visit this park and I am sure you won't complain, enjoy 😄
Great park something for eveyone in the family

There for my first time for a Cub Scout fishing derby grandsons. Only saw the fishing lake, but it was fine for the purpose, level bank all the way around with a concrete rim, thick cattails along part of the shoreline, good for catching off-target casts. Lots of birds in the reeds. Most of us weren’t catching anything, the more skilled said they were catching some 4 or 5 inch bluegill. There’s a pretty aeration fountain in the middle. Picnic tables at a few spots, plus a few benches, small trees for shade a bit back from the water. Pond weed in some places catching on hooks (the entire bank was full of scouts, so couldn’t be choosy.
We parked in a solar-panel-shaded lot very close to the lake. Not sure if there’s a charge for parking at other times, but we were told it was free for the event.
Only limitation was no close restrooms, we were directed to some port-a-potties at the soccer fields across the street, bit of a hike from the other side of the lake.

VERY nice and clean park! However, as I look at the pictures that people have posted over the years, I'm noticing things that I don't recognize! Such as the play ground toys!! I haven't seen any of those there. Although, I have seen something very similar at Carmichael Park! Hmmmmmmmmm... VERY strange and confusing I'll have to check it out again cuz it's bothering me really! LoL

Great spot to walk your dog, play pickle ball, basketball, futsol or just let the kids play on the playground. Relaxing spot and friendly people doing the all the above.

The play structures need maintenance to eliminate hazardous conditions on one of the slides. Perhaps upgrade to safer equipment.
Not exactly a convenient location. To get to the playground, we need to walk from the traffic light along the edge of the road. Boring park.
Nice clean park. Not huge, but good size for a quick walk and views!

Nice Park to get some fresh air. However, be advised that there are homless in some areas of the trails or even their thrash. Otherwise it's a really nice place for walking and see some wildlife.
The Sacramento Christmas Parade Dec 9, 2023 was great. As to the State Capital Park, most of the park bordering the east side of the Capitol is fenced off for renovation and replacement of that section of the Capital so you can't enjoy most of the park. The front of the Capital and that green area is nice.

A Green Thumb's Paradise at Capitol Park, Sacramento

Capitol Park is like a botanical 'Where's Waldo?' but for trees, flowers, and plants. Walking around this park is a crash course in botany, without the homework. Everywhere you look, there's a new leafy friend, and the best part? They're all labeled – it's like nature's version of a name tag meet-and-greet.

This park isn't just cool; it's like a living, breathing plant encyclopedia. You can stroll around, soaking in the beauty and walk away a bit smarter about the green world. The variety of vegetation is impressive – it's like Mother Nature decided to show off her portfolio.

In summary, if you’re into plants, or just want to walk around a place that’s both beautiful and educational, Capitol Park is your spot. It’s a peaceful escape in the heart of Sacramento, where every tree and flower seems eager to tell its story. Just don’t forget to say hello to each one – it’s only polite!

Great place for young kids to play safely with other similarly aged kids and lots of space. My kids love following the map and exploring the different attractions. There are lots of slides, some cute animals to see, playground areas, a garden area where kids can water the plants, a stage for special events, an indoor area for crafts and other indoor activities. Not too mention the crooked "mile" attraction that keeps my kids entertained for "miles and miles". My kids always leave happy and exhausted. Well worth the nominal entry fee.
Beautiful music in a birthday backyard event a full neighborhood treat nice to share some joy and celebration in green lush grass shade oaks

Very adorable and cute fairy tale children's theme park. They have various farm animals pigs, goats, cows and ponies, rabbit, and birds. The park has day camps and other weekend camps and other children activities like story time available for very affordable places. There's multiple play areas for younger children I'd say ages 1-8 years.
If you have younger kids I'd say it's totally worth purchasing the year pass. Do bring your own lunch because the cafe serves horrible yet overpriced food.

Very open park with two play structures on either side, tennis courts, a basketball court and lots of grass to play in. Since it's just a neighborhood park, there are no bathrooms, but still a great park I take my kids to often. Also, just a few hundred feet from an entrance to the American River Parkway.
An absolutely beautiful place The Rose garden was magnificent, a variety of different roses all beautiful and in bloom.

It is a huge park, very good for going on a long walk with your pet, or having a picnic near the lake, huge green areas to practice sports, a nice place to go with the family and do some recreational activity, there are close to There are some fast food restaurants there, so you can order something without having to go looking far from there. the place is very nice.
Looks and feels like a botanical garden with every tree having its type printed on a plaque below.
Great place to take your dog for a walk. No restrooms. Some sketchy characters

My kids love running around and climbing on everything here. The animals are fun to watch, last time we came the pigs were very talkative. Lots of fun for the kiddos.
Our visit to the California State Capitol was a delightful experience. The Neoclassical architecture, designed by Reuben S. Clark in 1874, is truly captivating. Surrounding the Capitol, you'll find the beautiful Capitol Mall and Capitol Park. While we couldn't explore the Capitol Museum due to our weekend visit, the park itself offered a serene escape. The park boasts 155 memorials celebrating California's history and people, and the 40 acres of gardens were a lush, peaceful retreat. A must-visit for history and nature enthusiasts.
Someone said is just a big hunk of land that’s what’s so nice about it it has lots and lots of trees it’s so peaceful and I go out around 11 am and there’s hardly anyone around at that time my dog loves it she loves running along the riverbed and running up and down the sides of the river. It’s a little bit of heaven in a hectic world. It’s peace and quiet in a noisy world

Ok. Too many homeless have access because they're are holes in fence line.
Never saw anyone picking up after their dogs. Caution if ya go there!
Our final park at the end of our park visit tour before putting the old lil fella down. Wide open soccer fields fun to let the dog run in when not in use. Nice and peaceful during off hrs (when everyone's at work/school). Remember to clean up after em 👍🏽

A really nice neighborhood park with about a mile lap around. Beautiful old trees abound. No campers or randos hanging around as found in other close by parks. A nice place to take your dog and view the beautiful older homes in Sacramento. This park is kept up and cleaner than most.

Pretty run down in many areas but adequate as long as you do not need any restroom facilities. The park is fenced in along most areas of green space that are right along busy Auburn boulevard. Near the baseball diamond (which is in rough shape), you will find the jungle gym and playground equipment. I would reconsider taking children here with any breathing problems during peak traffic times as the exhaust from cars slowly passing by could possibly be problematic for sensitive ones who struggle getting their lungs filled with air. The parking lot that is accessible is very small; the larger parking lot is in really bad shape and is no longer made accessible to visitors of the park.

I did notice that this parking lot does have a very high amount of cruising that goes on both in the parking lot and also off of the trails between the parking lot and creek. Cruising seems to occur at all the morning, afternoon, and early evening hours that the park is open. People seem to be respectful of each other here whether they are cruising as well, so I say good for them for having some fun!

My wife and I have always loved coming here. It’s a perfect spot for a picnic and in the middle of one of the prettiest neighborhoods in town. Great for a walk or get together. Also, the park is a perfect mile loop so it’s an ideal place for a run!
very beautiful flowering trees, there is a playground and a basketball court, a barbecue area, benches and a lawn. the only big minus is the noise from the freeway and I think it’s very unsafe for children, the fence has been broken for a long time and nothing blocks the exit to the freeway, I hope they will pay attention to my post. the local municipality will build a brick barrier to keep life safe.

I like: trees, lawns, solid play equipment. Fairly clean. Basic slides, swings, and "rocks" to scramble over and free-play. Nothing fancy.
Don't like: No restrooms (though I understand) not a lot of tables, often people parked, laying on the grass, or hanging around that seem suspicious. Take from that what you will, but we've been randomly approached a couple times by people who didn't ask for anything, but still came off as overly-familiar.
It has a small, but not busy, parking lot. It's entrance is right at the sharp turn onto Palm. Keep an eye out and use signals, and just be aware of your surroundings, Like any park, really. Its not like it's SF or Oak Park...but there's a large population of people who aren't housed in the area.

A great park. One mile around so it’s easy to track your distance. Very dog friendly place. If there is sunlight there are people here, but it has never felt really crowded to me. Depending on the time of year you’ll see groups of varying ages playing organized sports. Lots of trees as well as cute interesting houses to look at. In the middle there’s a tennis court, and beside that a kid’s playground.

This park is simply outdated and worn down. It's in desperate need of a makeover. The wooden structures wobble when the kids climb, and the swing set chains are rusting. There are many other cosmetic issues around the park, which is a shame because it used to be in such great shape.

The park itself is not that nice. Right next to the freeway BUT this is a historic place. Walegra used to be a temporary Internment camp ( Assembly center) for Japanese Americans who are incarcerated during World War II after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Around 5000 Japanese Americans we’re held here for a few months until they were sent to permanent interment camps. The conditions were pretty deplorable as they were forced to live in poorly made structures with no bathrooms. There is a monument that recounts this dark time in history.

Nice park in a nice neighborhood. Only down side is dog poop in the tennis courts. Owners let their dog run free in there like it's a dog park, but can't pick up after them. I'd be wary of how clean the playground is considering.

It's a beautiful park. People walking or running with babies or their dogs. Very peaceful. I've only noticed homeless people being there once. (I reference this for safety. Sometimes I walk by myself. It can feel dangerous to walk by yourself if there are a great deal of homeless.) The park is well shaded, too.
if you want to start a beautiful morning with exercise, then come here and enjoy the weather and have a great rest of your day.

I found here amazing.
Plenty of parking, very clean area’s around, Starbucks and restaurant close by.

I grew up at this park. Before the playground and walking path upgrades.

The playground was old, the walking paths were full of troughs and hills, and the basketball hoops were always 50/50 on a net for the hoops...

Now the hoops have nets, there is a nice new playground, and the walking paths are all fresh. It's the same nice open park it's always been with a fresh coat of paint.

You can also park on the street and use the levee access to walk down to Gristmill and check out the river as well.
Enjoyed the walk/jogging very peaceful

Great place to bring your kids or dogs. This used to be the old YMCA location and the work they put in to this place was amazing. The new jungle gym is super creative and the pickle ball court is a big hit. Nice bathrooms with water fountains, plenty of parking. Really nice covered picnic area with benches and bbq's. Futsol court, large open grass area for soccer, rugby, etc. Great split dog park in the back corner with a big large dog side and smaller grassy small dog area. Both sides have benches and water fountains that have attached dog bowls.
Big and quiet. I rode the bike over there yesterday. Like it.

One of my favorite parks, it's beautiful and green. Clean. Right across from wooded river access... stone tables, tennis courts, two playgrounds catering for the real young to the slightly older and more adventurous types. And of course a basketball court and ring toss area. The field is usually always green, cool temperatures being so close to the water, and a great place to walk your dog (please, don't forget your poop bags... No one wants to step in it!), Please do enjoy too!

This is a nice park great for kids and also has a basketball court for the biggest kids.
Nice view of the Sacramento river from here. Watched the fireworks on the 4th... limited parking here in a gravel lot.
Lots of open space, but the kids playground definitely doesn't hold a candle to what is available in Elk Grove or even across the street. The tennis courts have developed concrete cracks that make it difficult to play. Would love to see some work put in and updated for more enjoyable experience.
Only one small play structure on sand. Go across the street for a much better park.

Pioneer Landing - Artistic Fountain Drove up to it on Front Street, July, 5, 2014, just after sunset. Its lights were on, and when I walked up to it from the Front Street side, I couldn't figure out what it was from the side view. I walked down the trail a couple of hundred yards along the river, and then came back to the Artistic Fountain. It blew me away, from a slight distance with a head-on view, it was the hull of a Viking ship with an Angelic glow.
