Reviews

Amazing Atmosphere. Very private, romantic and pleasant. My birthday was like 2 days prior going there. They still gave me the 50% discount.
Service was immaculate and food was great too. I loved it so much. Thank you Sushi Kiku
My chicken skewer was raw. I have a photo of the part I spit out but the inside of the skewer was fully raw. The one worker took the skewer and said “oh, sorry” and then denied taking a raw chicken skewer from us later, as if it never happened. They didn’t offer a discount or remuneration. We got the bill and they still asked for a tip.
We like the large variety of sushi options that they offer. I see that there are several options that can suit everyone.. I checked with them over the phone, and they confirmed that they use vinegar in cooking and don't use wine in cooking..

It is better to call them in advance to make a reservation in advance . We are glad that we found a spot even we didn't make reservations. Note the middle area is only for reservations

Service is so fast. However, I didn't feel any hospitality at all. Even smile is almost rare there from the waiters who serve you.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Kiku Sushi. The service was excellent, the food arrived promptly, and it was both fast and delicious. The overall atmosphere added to the positive dining mood. Highly recommended!
This is one of my favourite sushi places.
A wide variety of options on their menu.

The torched sushi is incredible, the sashimi melts in your mouth.

The shrimp skewers are tasty and flavourable.

I will be back for sure!

This was used to be our favorite place for Japanese AYCE many many years ago when they newly opened. However, their quality of food has dropped dramatically after the pandemic. Food tasted awful so we have stopped coming for a long time. We had no other choice of AYCE places so we decided to give it a shot again. We ordered the dinner AYCE during lunch time because we found that lunch AYCE food selection sucks. Food quality is slightly better than before. Sashimi shrimp were fresh and that’s it, sashimi salmon weren’t fresh, everything else were below par. They charge you $0.50 each person for hot tea that is very disgusting. Those are supposed to be complimentary and no one remind us there is surcharge to hot tea. It’s just $0.50 how much extra can you made from that?? Also, everyone from our group including myself had diarrhea afterwards!! Will not return again!
Well the taste could be better compared to other ayce. Well after dining and seeing a picture on the seat indicating you will get a free pop or juice if you rate 5* which I felt kind of skeptical seeing the 5* reviews here. 12% tips is added in the bill when paying. Food is just ok , staffs service is good other than the ending one waitress asked us more than 3 times if we want the bill like she can’t wait for us to leave. Atmosphere wise is ok at least it’s clean. Overall the place is just fine but there’s few Japanese Ayce is better in the wise of tasting.

It's a small cozy restaurant. Decent price with good quality food. Interesting Japanese decorations. It's a bit under staff, they have a lot of take out order. It took sometime to get my food. The food is great. Recommended to get takeout order instead of dine in.
Haven't been this place almost 3 years, my experience is the food are much worse than before. Beef sashimi are over cook and not fresh, baked scallop are use chopped scallops, teppanyaki founder fish just plain oil no teriyaki sauce, beef short ribs feel like slightly pan fried after boil cook no sauce as well, squid feels like a rubber, the only good thing is they bring out the food super fast, everything that you order basically will be ready on your table within 5 minutes (Pre-made or whatever reason?).............
Very clean, not busy during the days, fresh high-quality fish. They take priority on in-person orders which is nice. You can be in and out in less than 10 minutes.

Ingredients were fresh. Portion was on the small side - poke salmon with kale noodle has plenty of veggies, ok amount of salmon and not much noodles; the shredded beef in black pepper sauce could use more greens. I have had more flavourful poke bowls too.

Really enjoyed the food here! We had the 56 pc sushi & sashimi platter, takoyaki, karagge chicken, buttered squid, shrimp tempura and hot sake. Everything was a 10/10. Service was fast & efficient and price was very reasonable for the quality of food and compared to other similar spots.

We were having lunch in Zen for a special occasion and reservation is recommended.
There lunch set menu selection is amazing and Presentation is top notch.
100% recommend Zen Japanese Restaurant if you want some of the highest quality and freshest fish in town.
First time having all-you-can-eat BBQ, and this was definitely a fun experience for $30-$40. Staff regularly checked on our table and the service was very quick. The food tasted great and our grills were frequently swapped out when they got too dirty. If you're planning on visiting, make sure you have your phone with you as they don't have a physical menu.

Hidden gem owned and run by lovely Asian couple. Presentation for takeout isn’t perfect, but quality of fish is great for the price. Party trays are priced well. Takeout is recommended as the restaurant is small and lighting is a bit dim. Our 60pc takeout came with three miso soups. Good stop for a quick meal if wishing to dine in.
We tried out this restaurant and it was an amazing experience. We got the all you can eat special. You choose all the raw items you want and then cook them over the grill when you are ready. We may actually have ordered too much, but we were hungry when we arrived!! Anyway, our waiter was super helpful and suggested several items. We are big meat eaters and got the lamb, tongue, steak, squid, some vegetables and one soup order...my cousin loved it.
For dessert we had the creme brulee.
Everything was great and we practically rolled out of the restaurant. Unfortunately we arrived but 50 mins before they closed, so we had to hurry. It would be nice to give yourself some time, so you can pace yourself and eat calmly.
Great food. Would go again. Wish we had something like this in Virginia.

I've gotten platters here many times, the price for the platters are fair and I really like the quality of their sushi. Everything feels fresh and made with love! Ordering over the phone has always been a breeze and I've recently discovered that they also have bowls, and those are just as delicious!

One of the best sushi places in Markham! Great value and above average but relative to other choices in the area... it's there with the best. 5% discount for cash payment!

Its located on the east end so it's a bit of a drive for those living on the other side of Markham. Wait times can be quite long on the weekends and friday nights so make sure to call ahead. Hidden inside a old covered plaza, it's very unassuming.
Always a great experience at Sushi Sushi Markham. Service is incredibly friendly and they never rush you. We have never had any issues with the food. Have tried the beef, chicken and miso fish Bento boxes. Friends have also had their sushi. Everything has been great. Highly recommend. Will be back.

Don’t go here. I have sushi twice a week and this was one of the worst i’ve had. Couldn’t even finish.
Got the salmon roll, green dragon, and rainbow roll. The rolls are so big and 80% of the roll is just cucumber. Completely tasteless.
The avocado, crabs, and shrimps tasted frozen.

Do not recommend.

We hadn’t been back here for a while but Osaka is still the same as we remembered it. The booths are good seats with some privacy, but if it gets busy and you’re in one of the narrow open tables in the middle of their restaurant layout it can feel a bit awkward. Service was good (there’s a button in each of the booths to call for service).

On to the food! We remembered their sushi to be decently sized portions and fresh, but that’s not what we got today. We got their donburis (tofu donburi and vegetable tempura donburi). For lunch, I think their donburi is quite a bit of food and offer great value.

SOY / LEGUME Allergy Friendly: Yes
G6PD Deficiency Friendly: Yes
Baby Friendly: No

Traditional Japanese restaurant that uses sesame oil for tempura ! The owner (also the chef) took time to tell us the ingredients of the batter and food items. Very glad to be able to have tempura made to order. As expected from most traditionally japanese run venues, the sashimi/sushi was also fresh and tasty. We brought our own soy free sauce for dipping. We also skipped the dressing for the side salad.

Although the shop is small and not very bright (so not very baby friendly), the food and service more than makes up for the experience.

Will come again for sure.

This takeout spot is amazing and I wish more people knew about it! The food is super well priced and the sushi and sashimi is amazing!

I will come back again just because of how awesome everything was! I didn’t even get a chance to take a picture of my food :(

This location is the old Tim Hortons that has been completely renovated. Want today and order the lunch special, 8 sushi and dynamite roll. The food was decent but I’ve had way better sushi/roll from a taste perspective at other Japanese restaurants. Giving a four star I feel was generous but always willing to help out the local business. Parking was ample even though it’s located right beside Linde dermatology.

Been a loyal customer since they first opened. Didn't think I'd have to write a review but wow, has the quality gone downhill to the point where I will no longer support this establishment. Yes, they are on the budget end of sushi, but even then, how can you mess it up to the point where I would have to leave a review? Where do I start?

Rice was drowning in moisture and ended up a thick paste with no flavour. Salmon cuts were of the brownish areas, hardly any orange. No tuna and replaced with week old tilapia. Rolls were leftover pieces of offcuts.

Even skimping on soy sauce. Ive always asked for extras, but now the extras come in extra small sauce containers.

Avoid at all cost. I know I will be.
The food was great, the beef options being a favourite. There are also some unique options that I haven’t seen at some of the other all-you-can-eat BBQ restaurants. The kimchi and the bibimbap rice dish were great (however, be careful if you don’t tolerate spicy food)! It can get a bit loud, but that’s more to do with the people that were there at the time. Great service, good atmosphere - it’s nice how they divide the tables to provide privacy.

Nice atmosphere with their booth settings. The server was kind and attentive.
Their presentation appeared to be interesting; However, the food didn't meet the standard. It was mediocre for the most part. The stuffing in the fried dumpling lacked seasoning. This place is also more on the pricy side.

I will return if I am in the area to give it another try.

Small restaurant owned by a middle-aged Asian couple who speaks broken English. Good service nonetheless. My boyfriend went there 4 years ago and really wanted to go back since we were going to be in the area. We ordered the Osaka Boat and an avocado maki as an extra. A small bowl of miso tofu soup is included as appetizer. Best sashimi I've ever eaten. The fish was extremely fresh and savory. The sushis look home-made because they are.

An unassuming gem for poke bowls! Its a small shop with only 2 tables and a bar area facing the window. Hesitant at 1st but glad we tried it. We ordered a tuna kale noodle and a salmon poke bowl (both similar except for the fish and carb choice). The poke bowl was better than the ones I got from a couple of sushi places but the kale noodles was the one the shone. The noodle was springy which matches very well with the sesame sauce. We also ordered a miso udon for our child. While I can't compare it to a ramen since it's udon, the ramen egg was also better than the eggs served at most ramen places.

This place definitely doesn’t skimp out on quantity. The bentos boxes come loaded with tempura.

The downside is the quality of the side dishes and the sushi. The pressed sushi was good though.

We tried the salmon lover, spider roll, and garlic soy sauce chicken. The food was good overall but not 5 stars because the salmon was a little bit rubbery. Also the chicken was kinda different from restaurants that specialize in Korean fried chicken but it was still worth it — crispy, juicy, and better value than getting another roll.
AYCE restaurant that’s worth the price! We definitely left full and satisfied! Great quality and variety of meats, seafood and other items included. Only two options for chicken however! Great amount of selection while not having an overwhelming amount of items! I like how there are dividers and curtains between majority of the tables allowing for more of a comfortable and semi secluded dining experience. Lots of variety in drink menu and free refills for regular soft drinks. Be sure to leave room for dessert with creme brûlée and soft serve ice cream to end the night :) Service is fast, and friendly. Would definitely recommend giving this location a visit!!

Small hole-in-the-wall sushi restaurant in Markham. It is very small and cozy inside.

We tried their lunch combos which includes miso soup and salad. You can choose from a set sashimi, sushi, maki, and cooked meats combo or build your own with the rolls you like.

Made a reservation, got greeted and taken to our seats. Private rooms are the best idea ever.
Love the vibe and true authenticity of Japanese cuisine
I visited with my family for lunch on a Saturday. I've always been to Dundas, but this was my first visit to Markham. There was a parking space, so it was convenient, and the interior was spacious and comfortable. It's spacious, so it's nice that it's separated from the table next to it. I ordered the usual brisket and it was also delicious. Shrimp is plump and fresh. The ice cream cone I ordered for dessert was delicious.

I ordered take-out from their restaurant and went straight home. Once there, I opened it up to start eating and there was a piece of hair and a LIVE ROACH or Winged beetle of some sort CRAWLING along the side of the container. I killed the roach and threw everything out immediately. Definitely not returning, and I do not recommend it.

I go here regularly. And it’s always such a pleasure to go and eat here. They have a little rooms where you can eat privately and it’s so cute. The service is efficient the waitresses don’t come and bother you every two seconds, but they explain the system, where there is a little bell that you can ring in order for you to order or ask for anything that you may need, typically I find this place busier during lunch sessions and dinner sessions. I think of that as an example to show how wonderful the food and the experience at this location is as it can get quite busy during certain times. Never too long of a wait though and the food is always made quickly so you don’t have to wait too long for your food and the way they serve it you get your tea, your water you got your soup, and then your meal all in the perfect amount of time where you can complete one portion of the meal and move onto the next at the perfect time.

Korean-operated Japanese restaurant, with some Korean selections as well. The Bento boxes seem to be the best deal at $25 during dinner. I believe they charged me $5 for a tea, which should be free at an Asian restaurant.
The sushi quality is fine, but I would recommend Osaka and Gal's over them. Worth a try if you're in the area. The restaurant is a bit hidden from view when driving on Highway 7.

Very cute, small dine-in cafe with lots of options. The staff are nice and it is well-decorated. The pop music is not my fav but it’s not too bad.
My go-to dish is always the kale cold noodles with salmon, so so good, feels healthy and filling, and the sesame sauce is the best thing ever. Their pork ramen is pretty good, but hot noodles not their strong suit. Got a bubble tea once and it was good size for the price and very tasty.
Seating might be full especially on weekends so keep that in mind!

I really enjoyed the food and overall experience. I think their torched (tuna?) May have been one of the best and most flavourful piece of sushi I've ever tried. The amount of umami was a very literal eye opening experience The other highlight was the ice-cream, the tea flavour was strong and it was so creamy. The staff was all very kind. The atmosphere would have been 5 stars but the washroom smells really really bad. That psychologically I thought I smelled it even in the dining area. Unfortunately I also got a little sick after :(
100% recommend if you want some of the highest quality and freshest seafood in the city. I have been going to Zen for over 15 years and love it. Service is incredible, the atmosphere is friendly. Get a seat at the counter if you can, watching the chefs work is a great experience! This is traditional Japanese sushi and food.

Komeya's Poke Bowls are delicious, filling, and healthy. My boyfriend and I got a Tuna Poke Bowl with sushi rice and Salmon Poke Bowl with Kale noodles. Both were great; the avocados were just right, the fish were soft but firm, and they provided plenty of additional vegetables that go well with the bowl (2 cherry tomatoes, corn, cucumber, ginger, and beans). We also really liked the artwork and interior vibes.

We were having lunch in Zen for a special occasion. The waiter politely greeted us at the entrance and sat us down without delay.

The restaurant was decorated with a minimalistic theme like most Japanese restaurants - simple yet clean and comfortable. In other words, it was quite Zen.

We ordered two lunch specials - one sashimi and one sushi. Both came with appetizers that could overload our tastebuds. I especially liked the steam egg with lobster meat but other appetizers were also top notch in quality.

The sushi and sashimi were fresh. The distinct sweetness of the meat jumped right out as I put them in my mouth. The chef minced the onion and mixed it in rice of the tuna roll. It enhanced the flavour of the tuna, the seaweed and the rice, making an ordinary tuna roll extraordinary.

In term of price, it was on the high side but one would find value for the dollar without a doubt.

Overall, the atmosphere, the service and the presentation as well as the quality of the food were well executed. Zen deserves a 5 star rating in my humble opinion.

Decided to come here for a gathering with some old friends. The restaurant had a good spacious layout and service was good/servers were attentive.

The food was decently priced and pretty good. I would recommend their homemade noodles which were quite good. Sushi was also quite good and fresh, but while I did enjoy the food, there was nothing that really stood out and wowed me and hence the reason for the 4/5

Pre-pandemic you can forget about, that place doesn't exist anymore. Back then when you ordered a Special Rolls you literally gasped at the size of them, astonished by rolls that had a 3 inch diameter. The amount of fish squeezed in those rolls there was nothing to say other than "oh my gawd". It was too good to be true.

During the pandemic we ordered takeout regularly, it was in our monthly rotation. Staff was still friendly under the circumstances, value continued to be incredible, thought the prices went up a bit the food was still great, still extremely generous portions. If you don't believe me, look at all the reviews that are 6-24 months old. Still all very solid reviews.

Post pandemic I don't know what to say. Reviews that are less than 6 months old, you'll see a pattern. Like most restaurants either the prices have gone up or the portions have shrunk. In Osaka's case the portions are still large but the value is gone. The food just isn't good anymore. It's not really a sushi restaurant anymore, as the fish has become an afterthought. Every roll is filled with huge amounts of cucumber, or massive chunks of avocado. Fish is sparse or isn't fresh. The tough times of food prices have hit Osaka hard.

Look at the cross section of this BBQ Eel special roll. They're calling this a California roll when it is 99% cucumber. There is barely any imitation crab or avocado. Cost savings I guess. This is a laughable attempt at a California roll, to say nothing of the eel topping, nearly non-existent (Not pictured, sorry. There was *some*!).

On the right you see a Volcano Special roll. What used to be a spicy salmon topping has become 90% tempura batter filling with maybe 5% salmon, 5% roe. In our monthly order my wife and I used to get the Dancing Eel Special Roll and the Volcano Special Roll, and that would be enough for 2 meals and small snack.

Now you can scrape that tempura batter topping aside, pick out the salmon.. there's barely one mouthful of salmon in total. The diameter was down to 2 inches. We finished both rolls and felt like we'd just eaten a vegetarian meal. We were hungry again by the time we got home.

Restaurant was completely empty when we arrived on a Sunday night and the waitress, without looking at me, asked if I had a reservation. She took us to a table with a good amount of privacy, it felt like a reservations-only table even though we didn't have one. When we left the entire restaurant was only half full. Pre-pandemic this place had a lineup out the door every night. There were a few nights we decided to go somewhere else because lineup was too long.

Hopefully, they turn things around when the cost of ingredients levels out and I can update this review. Osaka used to be our favorite Sushi restaurant in Markham. Now we are on the lookout for a new one.
I’ll start by saying, yes, this place is very expensive. However, after being to so many expensive restaurants I have to say this one is WORTH IT. If you spend under $200, you’re probably missing out.

The restaurant itself is fairly small and intimate. Lighting is low except for the cooking area, which is the best place to keep your attention as the chef prepares the sushi/sashimi. If you’re lucky enough to book the counter (which costs an extra $10 per person) you can see much more closely as they prepare, and they deliver directly to you. They do coat check for free, and give you a container to place your bag under your chair.

The chefs are really kind, and you can talk to them as they cook. Most of the staff are fluent in Japanese, (and are most likely Japanese if that matters to you) so if you wanted to say a few Japanese phrases or words they’ll respond back in Japanese. The head chef encouraged me to practice with the chef serving us, and it was really fun. Speaking of, our chef was very young and dressed differently so I think he was an apprentice (as were the other 2 chefs; I like that they each had their own colour of uniform).

The food itself is so amazingly hard to describe. You can taste what you pay for and then some with the high quality of each ingredient. For an extra $15, you could have real pure wasabi ground freshly for you. Watching them prepare the food was like watching an artist paint; each movement was so careful and delicate. If the cut was angled oddly or slightly off, they would do it again until they got it correctly. I kept forgetting to take pictures because I was so distracted. Each piece of sushi was a new experience!

I should note that not every piece was necessarily perfect, which is understandable since again I think our chef is in training as an apprentice. But it’s still more impressive than the average sushi chef!

The taste is something you really have to go try yourself; no amount of words can describe how delicious each piece was, and each one told a different story. I’m not a fan of Uni, but I have never tasted Uni quite like it before; there was no grainy after taste, it was creamy, AND it had some kind of magical after taste that had me seeing a clear ocean behind my eyelids. It was a whole RIDE, and that was from one piece of sushi! The seaweed was so fresh; it had such a satisfying crunch as you take a bite, and the taste was so-!!!

I can go on and on about every single piece of sushi but you really need to go try it yourself!! I went for my birthday, and they prepared a small surprise at the end. Overall, I can’t praise this restaurant enough. I definitely plan to return!

Been going to AiSushi for years now; they have yet to disappoint. Many can vouch for the consistent quality of their sushi. Price is average and they are punctual with providing sushi platters when I go pick up. Keep it up guys!
Came here with my family for Christmas dinner. The omakase experience was great - food was very fresh, presentation was intricate and service was very attentive. Would come again!

Great Japanese restaurant hidden inside this plaza. I believe they're Korean owned. Intimate dining area serving your staple Japanese dishes including platters, Bento boxes, stir fry and more.

Service was good however I believe they're a bit understaffed. There was only one server in the dining room and sometimes another lady comes out but the restaurant was full and she also had to deal with take out and delivery orders so my food came a bit slow and also a sake forgotten.

Their menu doesn't specify what's in some platters especially the premium dishes so I had to ask. When the premium items came they do have good quality. Plating was beautiful and servers were nice.

Overall great place to check out.

I’ve been to a few sushi spots around town and today I checked out this one and I am pleased to say that it is a great location with plenty of options and photos in their menu so you can easily identify what you’d like. The location was a little tricky to get to because it was hidden within the plaza but once you know that it’s very easy to get to. It was pretty quiet, and the environment was extremely clean.
I would recommend them to others
Gyubee is a franchise done correctly. I live very close to the Markham one but it's always so busy, so I usually go to the Scarborough one. This week I tried my luck at the Markham location for lunch, and we were quoted a 1 hour wait so we decided to wait. We did end up getting a table exactly after the estimated time, which was much appreciated since we even had gone to the Costco nearby to kill time. We had arrived at 12:15 which is right after their opening at 12, and a few minutes after we signed up I noticed 20 more tables after us. So make sure to sign up as early as possible! Yelp waitlist opens only at 12:30 so that's probably why there was a huge number after us.

The lunch menu is very good for $30. Yes, the dinner menu ($40) has a lot more items, but it's rare to find a good AYCE for $30 nowadays. Especially compared to other places like Shinta, that don't even offer a cheaper lunch menu. You can check their website for their menu and see that they offer some great cuts of beef for lunch, as well as my favorite bibimbap. The seating time is 1 hour 45 minutes which is very long for lunch.

The service was fast and I felt no need to push myself to eat an unholy amount since it was only $30. The only thing I didn't love was the thick pork belly, which is more of a recent addition to the menu. Another recent addition is the chicken thigh, which actually cooks so well on the grill and gets a great char. But overall they have a great lunch selection and I'll definitely be back!

Very popular and busy sushi restaurant in Markham. Restaurant is small, so you usually need to wait for a table. There was no greeter at the door, so I needed to walk to the back of the restaurant and ask the cashier for a table. Overall, the sashimi is fresh and portions are decent. The salmon in the sushi was less fresh. The layout of the restaurant with individual rooms also makes it feel more Japanese. However, difficult to tell if it's authentically Japanese as they also have Korean items on the menu.

It’s been great until this time. I understand the price of everything is rising, but you could increase the price instead of decreasing the quality. Can’t believe what’s in the salmon rolls. See pictures. They are all salmon fish left overs.

The sushi rolls came with 6 even though in the photos it showed clearly 8. As another reviewer has stated, the top coat of paint on the bento boxes were coming off in various places (some as large as a quarter) and making direct contact with food. Not worth coming here for the health hazard of eating broken pieces of painted plastic.
Ordered the deluxe 106 piece party tray and half the set was not fish and filled with cheap fillers (crab meat, egg, cucumber, yellow radish). Would not recommend and not come back. There are other better options close by. Only reason I gave them 2 star is bc staff was nice and they gave a 10% cash discount.

We made a reservation and got our table immediately when we arrived. We ordered salmon pressed sushi, assorted sashimi, tempura udon, jajang myeon and Korean fried chicken. The noodles were not bad. The sashimi was okay. Each slice was thick but they didn't have much taste in it. The fried chicken was juicy inside but the batter was thick. Service was good.

Really quick service and delicious Poke Bowl so far! I went here twice already and food is still as good as the last time I came here months ago! I will recommend to try the poke bowl with the Kale noodle it is really yummy and al dente. First Photo is what it looks like before I mixed in the sauce they provided and pull up the noodles below. The Staff is very nice and patient too! Overall it's a nice place to treat yourself once awhile!

This is a nice gem we found in the Markham area.
We visited on a Friday night and they are busy.
Restaurant is 50% full and they are preparing for a lots of take out orders.
Only one server when we got there and she is running around but manage to keep everyone happy.
They have Korean fried chicken on their dine in menu and I love Korean fried chicken and they make it well.
Everything we ordered come out at a reasonable time and everything is very presentable.
Our family love the quality of their food here.
Services is also amazing!!!! They feels like we have to wait for our food for a long time and give us free appetizers to try.... Lovely!
When we leave, we are on our way out and they give us a bag of food and said they are free for you to take home..... Wow... Some seaweed salad and some dumplings we can eat the next day!
Highly recommended!!!
Great service and tasty food. My favourites are the salmon sashimi and grilled fish. The rolls are a bit heavy on rice but they are still very good. We got the special for four and it was a huge amount of food. Everyone was stuffed. The server is very welcoming and the place is clean.

Take out review
May2022
They only accept take out order at this time. They have no dine in for a while now.
Most of the people order sushi party trays here and they only accept cash on party tray order.
Quality of fish and rice is above average in compare to all the "Japanese sushi party trays restaurants" in the area.
I can easily name 10 more Japanese restaurants you can order sushi party trays within 10km of AiSushi Markham.
In my opinion AiSushi Markham is in my Top 2 out of all the other restaurants.
Food quality is very consistent (last 12 months or more), my family never said "today's order is not very good" or "maybe they changed their Sushi chef. It always taste good... So far.so.good
Recently they control the take out pick up time very well so you don't go there at your pick up time and still wait 20-30 mins.
They also have a pager system now so you can wait in your car if your order is not ready

They deserve 5 stars as a take out only Japanese sushi restaurant.
I really cannot compare them to those Proper authentic Japanese restaurants.
TOO MUCH RICE in rolls!! I ordered 4 veggie rolls (avocado, spicy avocado, egg, bean curd) - all of them had wayyy too much rice stuffed inside and that is all I could taste. Don't assume that their prices are cheap, because their rolls are slimmer than most places.
Also, their soy sauce seems to be a full sodium one because I could barely dip it in without having my mouth go all salty. Wouldn't recommend. Attaching pics.
Staff were friendly. Service was fast - we were impressed how quickly our food came. We ordered lunch combos and shrimp tempura appetizer. The tempura was a bit too much batter for our liking but it wasnt overly dense tasting. Salmon sashimi tasted fresh. The california roll was small but not too much rice. Portion size was appropriate for pricing (cheaper and smaller portion size). If youre looking for a quick lunch, come here!

So amazing. Their portions are plenty, especially for the sushi/sashimi/roll boat. For the (decent) price you’re paying, you’re getting very good quality fish and rice, and larger tables (5+) usually get a little booth with a door. I’ve been here twice, and I would come back again. Their tuna was very enjoyable, and so was the beef tataki! I was very surprised that they gave us fresh oyster as part of sashimi!!

Also make sure to book well in advance! They are super busy and don’t have the seating to accommodate everyone. The servers are super busy so they may make you feel rushed, but if you score a booth with a door, it won’t bother you. Cash is 5% discount, but I’m not sure if that applies to all tables or if you need a minimum order.
Food tasted bad and shrimp tempura was not fried completely but service was good. All ladies were friendly except one with bobbed hair was rude. Worst sushi ever and the fish was undercooked. My friend felt like throwing up. Aesthetic presentation of the food. Red wine is $7 and less than half the glass is full which was disappointing. Too overpriced. Would NOT recommend and will not visit again.

Excellent quality of fish, attentive service, the appetizers were the best imo. The variety, taste and texture were so well done. Presentation is top notch.

Downsides are price being on the high end, good for an occasional splurge. Sushi and sashimi omakase didn't have the same types of fish as sushi omakase and no tamago although price is the same. And increasing wasabi as the meal progressed

I preferred the broth without the spicy topping. Felt like the topping took away from the roasty flavour in the broth. A good portion of pork and noodles. We were surprised there weren’t any small plates/appetizers available, it seemed like they were focusing more on their drink menu. Based on that I may try a tea drink from them next time.

A little shop that's tucked into a small plaza. First time there, food was good and they have a daily special. The decor is cute. The only thing I'd recommend is to call ahead if you're getting take-out, otherwise it could take a bit of wait time.

Update Sept 2023: Dine in experience for lunch - nice environment to sit in with the cute photos and decor. Not too busy so nice to be about to chat and the service was attentive. Food was good, not huge proportions but good for the price. Quite fresh for the poke bowl I had. If you pay cash you get 5% discount.
We went in after registering for the waitlist and as per their estimated time we got in 10min and early! We were greeted well and the General Manager Kang Liu seated us and made sure everything was good and our waiter P.K was awesome! He attended to us often making sure everything was ok and changed our fire mesh as needed! Service was very quick and the meat marination was awesome we loved the gyubee sweet soy marinated short ribs were so good! There was a rice dish with the running egg yolk on top the waiter recommended it was really good! Must try dish! Creme brûlée was awesome!!! Highly recommend this location! Place is clean, courteous people, respectful and they have a nice rhythm throughout their service! Will definitely come again with more ppl!
Definitely recommend this fun experience. Luxury Indoor BBQ experience with great Ambiance and welcoming setting. Away from the outdoors, away from the bugs and not having the BBQ scent imbedded into your pores.

lunch on weekends, before taxes and gratuity lunch round up to approximately $25 per adult age 11yrs and up. Children 5-10 yrs old was $10 and Children under Four was less than $5.

The fun part was cooking your choice of food and having the opportunity to thank/serve the cooked items to the elders or to someone you respect. I would strongly recommend making a reservation as the restaurant can get really busy especially when restaurant opens at lunch leading to dinner hours. Very professional and hygienic staff. Staff advise it’s a 90 minute seating limitation. As soon as we were seated and ordered food, the items arrived in less than 10 minutes. No need to worry about the place being Smokey or you smelling like BBQ. I was very surprised the exhaust system was very effective and very quiet!!

The whole staff from Gyubee were very polite and efficient. . I appreciate the honesty when they informed us that tips were applied on the bill as there were 7 of us - non hidden surprises with the bill.👍🏼

Overall food was marinated to perfection, plenty of food choices, LOVE the light yet sweet dipping soya sauce, flame broiled taste was fantastic and best of all, excellent service!!

Meat comatose 😆

Thank you Team Gyubee on Woodbine👏🏼
Really good omakase experience. Definitely worth the $$$ in terms of food and service. Food was excellent. Fish and shellfish were really fresh and never tasted fishy. The amount of wasabi they use is just right and the vinegar was not overpowering the rice. The Hokkaido uni was a first and a big surprise for me. You can definitely taste the creaminess and a little bit of the ocean in comparison to the nasty stuff you get from BC and Boston. The sushi chef paced our sushi well and we were never in a rush.

Service was top notch. We reserved a regular table but was bumped to the counter. Tea was always topped without asking. Servers were really attentive and kind. Highly recommend this restaurant for those who want to have that feeling of being in Japan but couldn’t go because of the pandemic.
Very attentive service and food is good quality for the price. The maki rolls that come with the platter are fairly basic. Good sampler but next time we'll likely order separate individual rolls.
Ordered takeout and the service was very good over the phone. For the price, the sushi was decent.

Small place near T&T super market. Taste is ok. Presentation is not really ok. Price is reasonable. If you are hungry, not really a good choice for you. If you just want to go for a bite, it's one of the good choices in the area.
